Port Arthur, South Australia
Port Arthur is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the Yorke Peninsula at the northern end of Gulf St Vincent about north west of the state capital of Adelaide and about north of the town of Port Wakefield. Its boundaries were created in May 1999 for the "long established name." Port Arthur was used from 1861 to 1863 as a minor port for an enterprise moving passengers between Port Adelaide and the towns of Moonta and Wallaroo using the steam tug, ''Eleanor'', and coach services operated by both "Mr Opie's Horse Conveyances" and W. Rounsevell. Port Arthur is located within the federal Division of Grey, the state electoral district of Narungga and the local government area of the Yorke Peninsula Council. Clinton Conservation Park
Clinton Conservation Park, formerly the Clinton National Park, is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located on the coastline at the north end of Gulf St Vincent. The conservation park consists of two parts with the first extending from Clinton on Yorke Peninsula on the west side of Gulf St Vincent to Port Wakefield on the east side of the gulf and the second extending south of Port Wakefield to Sandy Point. The conservation park was originally proclaimed in 1970 as the ''Clinton National Park'' under the ''National Parks Act 1966'', was re-proclaimed under the ''National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972''. The area contained within the conservation park including the ‘head of gulf wetland and Wakefield River estuary’ is considered to be ‘important as a fish nursery and a significant site for migratory wading birds’. Kulpara, South Australia
Kulpara is a rural town in South Australia, situated on the Copper Coast Highway and Upper Yorke Road in the Hummocks Range at the northern end of Yorke Peninsula. The name ''Kulpara'' is derived from an Aboriginal word ''Kula'' meaning "eucalyptus". The area was proclaimed in 1862, surveyed in 1864 and settled soon after. The township itself was surveyed in 1932 and proclaimed in 1934. A community hall was built in 1902, replaced by a soldiers' memorial hall in 1953. The school opened in 1877 and expanded in 1957. Narungga is a single-member Electoral districts of South Australia, electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution of 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 South Australian state election, 2018 state election. It is named for the Narungga people who are the traditional owners of the lands in most of the electorate. It is one of two state districts named after South Australia's indigenous people (the other being the electoral district of Kaurna). William Rounsevell
William Rounsevell (c. 1816 – 5 October 1874) was a businessman of Cornish origins who founded a livery stable and mail coach business in the early years of colonial South Australia. His sons John Rounsevell (c.1836–1902) and Ben Rounsevell (1842–1923) were prominent businessmen, pastoralists and politicians in South Australia. Wallaroo, South Australia
Wallaroo is a port town on the western side of Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, northwest of Adelaide. It is one of the three Copper Triangle towns famed for their historic shared copper mining industry, and known together as "Little Cornwall", the other two being Kadina, about to the east, and Moonta, about south. Moonta is a town on the Yorke Peninsula of South Australia, north-northwest of the state capital of Adelaide. It is one of three towns known as the Copper Coast or "Little Cornwall" for their shared copper mining history. Description The town's centre is about south west of Kadina, site of Wallaroo Mines, and south of the port of Wallaroo. There are 11 suburbs surrounding central Moonta, each being a distinct historic locality or hamlet. These are: Cross Roads, East Moonta, Hamley, Kooroona, Moonta Bay, Moonta Mines, North Moonta, North Yelta, Paramatta, Port Hughes and Yelta. Port Adelaide is a port-side region of Adelaide, approximately northwest of the Adelaide CBD. It is also the namesake of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield council, a suburb, a federal and state electoral division and is the main port for the city of Adelaide. Yorke Peninsula
The Yorke Peninsula is a peninsula located northwest and west of Adelaide in South Australia, between Spencer Gulf on the west and Gulf St Vincent on the east. The peninsula is separated from Kangaroo Island to the south by Investigator Strait. The most populous town in the region is Kadina.
