Pornography (band)
Pornography was an American punk rock band, from New York, featuring Make Out vocalist Leah Hennessey, singer-songwriter Ryan Adams and drummer Johnny T. Yerington. They disbanded in 2014. The band released its debut EP, ''7 Minutes in Heaven'', on April 21, 2013 on Adams' label, PAX AM. History According to vocalist Leah Hennessey, the band's originated from a conversation between herself and Adams: "I told Ryan I wanted to make sad bastard music and the next day he asked me to come sing in his and Johnny's punk band, which is when we wrote and recorded the entirety of ''7 Minutes in Heaven''. We never give ourselves more than a few minutes to write the songs so we can't really afford to censor ourselves or be less stupid." PAX AM
Pax Americana Recording Company, also known as PAX-AM, is a record label founded by Ryan Adams. Established in 2004, the label released certain of Adams’ then-unpublished demo recordings. Following Adams' fulfillment of a recording contract with Lost Highway Records in 2008, the PAX-AM label became the artist's exclusive venue for musical releases. In early November 2010, the label re-launched its webpage and announced platforms for retail and the release of music by additional artists. History Adams' idea for 'PAX-AM' records germinated in high school. Adams states: "When I was in high school, I used to pass out these cassettes that said Pax-Am Records. That was my imaginary label. Ryan Adams
David Ryan Adams (born November 5, 1974) is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, artist, and poet. He has released 23 albums, as well as three studio albums as a former member of alt-country band Whiskeytown. In 2000, Adams left Whiskeytown and released his debut solo album, ''Heartbreaker'', to critical acclaim. The album was nominated for the Shortlist Music Prize. The following year, his profile increased with the release of the UK certified-gold ''Gold'', which included the single, "New York, New York". Record Store Day
Record Store Day is an annual event inaugurated in 2007 and held on one Saturday (typically the third) every April and every Black Friday in November to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store". The day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores around the world. A number of records are pressed specifically for Record Store Day, with a list of releases for each country, and are only distributed to shops participating in the event. Gus Oberg
Gus Oberg is a Swedish music producer and recording engineer. He is best known as the longtime engineer and a producer of American rock band The Strokes, for whom he has worked since 2009. Oberg is also a close collaborator of Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. and has worked on every one of his solo records. Since the late 2000s, Oberg has produced numerous indie rock albums and has often worked with Hammond Jr. or Johnny T Yerington as a producing partner. Oberg was awarded a Grammy Award in 2006 for his engineering work. Career Oberg moved from his native Sweden to New York City in 1997 to pursue audio engineering. His career took off in the early 2000s as an engineer at New York's Loho Studio.
