Popworld
''Popworld'' is a British television programme that was broadcast on Channel 4 as part of the T4 strand, featuring pop news, trivia, gossip, interviews and music videos, as well as musical performances from contemporary artists. The show began on 20 January 2001 and was initially presented by Miquita Oliver and Simon Amstell. Alex Zane and Alexa Chung took over the hosting role in 2006. ''Popworld'' was broadcast every Sunday morning on Channel 4 at 10:30am, and repeated on E4 at 2:00pm the following day. On 27 April 2007, Channel 4 announced they would not be recommissioning the show, and after six years on air, ''Popworld'' ended on 14 July 2007. Simon Amstell
Simon Marc Amstell (born 29 November 1979) is a British comedian, writer and director. He wrote and directed the films '' Carnage'' (2017) and ''Benjamin'' (2018). His work on television has included presenting ''Popworld'' and ''Never Mind the Buzzcocks''. Early years Amstell was born in east London in 1979, to David and Tina (née Leventhal) Amstell. He was brought up in a Jewish family, and he is the eldest of four children. He was educated at Beal High School, a state comprehensive school in Ilford. The competition runs a cycle every month, with the winner gaining the prize of an appearance on Saturday morning television on Channel 4. Alexa Chung (born 5 November 1983) is a British television presenter, model, internet personality, writer, and fashion designer. She wrote the book ''It'' (2013). Miquita Oliver
Miquita Billie Alexandra Oliver (born 25 April 1984) is a British television presenter and radio personality. With Simon Amstell, she co-hosted Channel 4's ''Popworld'' from 2001 to 2006. Miquita then went on to present on T4 from 2006 to 2010, as well as having her own show, ''The Month With Miquita'', on 4Music. She has also worked in radio, hosting shows on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra. In April/May 2015 she took part in a four-part series '' 24 Hours in the Past'' as herself. Alex Zane (born Faris Alexander L. Albayaty; 3 March 1979) is a British television presenter and DJ. T4 (Channel 4)
''T4'' was a scheduling slot on Channel 4 (''T4 Saturday'' usually 9 am until 2 pm) and E4 (''T4 Sunday'' usually 9 am until 5 pm). It also aired on weekdays in the school holidays. The slot had a separate station identification on screen graphic from Channel 4 and E4. Channel 4 originally produced the strand in-house until 2002, when production was passed onto independent companies. The slot was targeted at the 16-24 age group. Until 25 March 2012, ''T4'' aired on Channel 4 both Saturday and Sunday. To make way for the introduction of ''Sunday Brunch'' in March 2012, ''T4 Sunday'' was later moved to run on E4. ''T4 Saturday'' remained on Channel 4 and some programmes that previously appeared within the ''T4'' block, such as ''The Simpsons'', remained on Channel 4 on Sunday afternoons. The Kooks
The Kooks () are an English pop-rock band formed in 2004 in Brighton. The band consists of Luke Pritchard (vocals/rhythm guitar), Hugh Harris (lead guitar/synthesizer/bass) and Alexis Nunez (drums).
