The Bats (New Zealand Band)
The Bats are an influential New Zealand rock band formed in 1982 in Christchurch by Paul Kean (bass), Malcolm Grant (drums), Robert Scott (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards) and Kaye Woodward (lead guitar, vocals). Though primarily a Christchurch band, The Bats have strong links to Dunedin and are usually grouped in with the Dunedin sound musicians that emerged in the early 1980s. The band has retained the same four members from 1982 to the present day. History 1981–1986: origins and early years In the early 1980s, Robert Scott and Kaye Woodward were sharing accommodation together in Christchurch. Bressa Creeting Cake is a New Zealand rock band, active during the 1990s. History The band, originally named Breast Secreting Cake, formed in Auckland around 1991 around the nucleus of Edmund Cake, Geoffrey Maddock and Joel Wilton. Edmund, Geoff and Joel had played together on songs while they were at school, but the first line up to gig and release music included Dave Neilsen. The band's first recordings were made by Ed on four tracks and Ed and Dave at a 16-track studio the band was lent. A few of these songs were being played on local college radio station bFM by 1994 and the band had found an audience. They played live irregularly, and mostly with a completely different set of songs from the previous show. Often they played in costumes that made them appear as monks. Tall Dwarfs
Tall Dwarfs are a New Zealand rock band formed in 1981 by Chris Knox and Alec Bathgate, who helped pioneer the lo-fi style of rock music. The duo were former members of Toy Love. The band lacked a drummer, but would use household objects and hand claps to act as percussion. Both members can play guitar, with 12 strings and bass guitar often heard on their records. Both can play organ as well, which has been utilised on some of their songs. The Casiotone is frequently used too, especially on live concerts. Their debut was the EP ''Three Songs'' (1981), and for many years they released EPs only. The album '' Weeville'' (1990) was their first full-length album. They did, however, release a number of full-length compilations of their EPs, like '' Hello Cruel World'' and ''The Short and Sick of It''. David Kilgour (musician)
David Auld Kilgour (born ) is a New Zealand songwriter, musician and recording artist from Dunedin. He first started playing guitar as a teenager in the late 1970s. With brother Hamish he formed The Clean, a group that went on to become one of the most popular and most respected bands in New Zealand. Early life and family Born in Ranfurly, Kilgour is the son of McGregor Kilgour and Helen Stewart Kilgour (née Auld). He was educated at Otago Boys' High School from 1974 to 1976. Career 1980s: The Clean and The Great Unwashed In 1980, Kilgour was one of the founders of New Zealand independent rock band, The Clean. The Clean broke up in the mid- 1980s and David Kilgour proceeded to form and play with other bands such as ''Stephen'' and The Great Unwashed.
