PopRocks is a satellite radio music channel that plays pop rock music from the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. It airs on Sirius XM Radio (channel 12) and Dish Network. History PopRocks debuted on August 17, 2017 as a full-time channel devoted to the pop-rock genre of music from the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. On June 18, 2020, PopRocks moved from channel 17 to channel 12, replacing WHTZ (Z100). The Bridge took over PopRocks' former slot. List Of Sirius XM Radio Channels
Since 2008, Sirius XM Radio has had a similar channel lineup, with a few differences based on whether the individual has a Sirius, XM, or SiriusXM radio. For technical reasons, separate radios continue to be manufactured for the separate services despite the programming lineups having since been merged. The Lynx and Edge radios are on the SiriusXM platform, the Onyx and XM3pi radios are on the XM platform, and the Sportster and Starmate radios are on the Sirius platform. ''The Bridge'' is on Sirius XM Radio channel 17 and Dish Network 6032. It is devoted to gold-based Classic Hits / News Radio The channel is programmed by Mary Sue Twohy. The channel plays mainly 1970s acts, such as Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, Carole King, Jackson Browne, Elton John, Jim Croce, The Eagles, America, and Billy Joel, along with some later 1980s and 1990s artists like Sting, Bonnie Raitt, and others. It was basically the 1960s and 1970s counterpart of the former StarLite channel for the Sirius service before the Sirius/XM merger replaced StarLite with The Blend (which covers adult contemporary music from the 1970s-now). Pop Rocks, also called popping candy, is a candy, owned by Zeta Espacial S.A. Pop Rocks ingredients include sugar, lactose (milk sugar), and flavoring. It differs from typical hard candy in that pressurized carbon dioxide gas bubbles are embedded inside of the candy, creating a small popping reaction when it dissolves. Background and history The concept was patented by General Foods research chemists Leon T. Kremzner and William A. Mitchell on December 12, 1961 (U.S. patent #3,012,893), but the candy was not offered to the public until 1976, before General Foods withdrew it in 1983, citing its lack of success in the marketplace and its relatively short shelf life. No Doubt is an American rock band from Anaheim, California, formed in 1986.
