Pools Of Darkness
''Pools of Darkness'' is a role-playing video game published by Strategic Simulations in 1991. The cover art and introduction screen shows a female drow. It is the fourth (and final) entry in the ''Pool of Radiance'' series of Gold Box games, and the story is a continuation of the events after ''Secret of the Silver Blades''. The novel loosely based on the game was released in 1992. Like the previous games in the series, it is set in the Forgotten Realms, a campaign setting from ''Dungeons & Dragons''. Players must stop an invasion from an evil god, eventually traveling to other dimensions to confront his lieutenants. Story The party starts their adventure in the city of Phlan, charged with the task to safely escort Council Member Sasha on a diplomatic mission. Upon leaving the city, Lord Bane, along with four of his lieutenants, claims the entire land of Faerûn as his own, and magically teleports, destroys, and removes many cities off the face of the land. Keith Parkinson
Keith A. Parkinson (October 22, 1958 – October 26, 2005) was an American fantasy artist and illustrator known for book covers and artwork for games such as ''EverQuest'', ''Guardians'', ''Magic: The Gathering'', and '' Vanguard: Saga of Heroes''. After designing book and magazine covers for TSR, Parkinson moved into game design in the 1990s, and co-designed the collectible card game ''Guardians''. Parkinson died of leukemia in 2005, just four days after his 47th birthday. Early life Keith Parkinson was born in West Covina, California. Because of his father's career at GMAC, Parkinson spent his childhood in various cities in the United States including San Diego, CA, New York, NY, Miami, Florida, and Lansing, Michigan. Elminster Aumar is a fictional character appearing in the ''Forgotten Realms'' campaign setting for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game. He is also known as the Sage of Shadowdale, and is depicted as a powerful wizard featured in several novels by ''Forgotten Realms'' creator Ed Greenwood.
