Ai-jen Poo (, ; born 1974) is an American labor activist. She is the president of the National Domestic Workers Alliance. She is also the director of Caring Across Generations, a national coalition of 200 advocacy organizations working to transform the long-term care system in the US, with a focus on the needs of aging Americans, people with disabilities, and their caregivers. She is a 2014 recipient of the MacArthur "Genius" Award. In February 2015, the New Press released her book, ''The Age of Dignity: Preparing for the Elder Boom in a Changing America''. Fernão Do Pó
Fernão do Pó (; ''fl.'' 1472), also known as Fernão Pó, Fernando Pó or Fernando Poo, was a 15th-century Portuguese navigator and explorer of the West African coast. He was the first European to see the islands in the Gulf of Guinea around 1472, one of which until the mid-1900s bore a version of his name, Fernando Pó or Fernando Poo. The island is now named Bioko and is part of Equatorial Guinea. His name had also been given to several other places in nearby Cameroon; the village of Fernando Pó, Portugal; and the village of Fernando Pó, Sierra Leone. Biography Little is known about him or his life. He was one of the navigators working for Fernão Gomes, joining João de Santarém, Pedro Escobar, Lopo Gonçalves, and Pedro de Sintra, a merchant from Lisbon who was granted a monopoly over trade in part of the Gulf of Guinea. Karin Sham Poo
Karin Elise Holmgrunn Sham Poo (born Karin Holmgrunn, December 18, 1943 in Oslo), also previously known as Karin Løkhaug, is a Norwegian diplomat who held a number of senior United Nations appointments, most notably as Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF. She also held the rank of Under Secretary General whilst the Interim Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Children and Armed Conflict. Career She served as general manager, marketing division, and senior vice president of the Christiania Bank in Oslo from 1982 to 1985 after holding several other managerial positions with the bank, which she joined in 1962. She also held managerial posts with Bergens Kreditbank and A/S Kjobmandsbanken in Oslo. She was recruited to UNICEF Headquarters in New York in 1985 as its comptroller and became its deputy executive director in 1987. She held the position until she retired at the end of 2004. Mu-ming Poo
Mu-ming Poo (; born October 31, 1948) is a Chinese-American neuroscientist. He is the Paul Licht Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley and the Founding Director of the Shanghai-based Institute of Neuroscience (ION) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was awarded the 2016 Gruber Prize in Neuroscience for his pioneering work on synaptic plasticity. At ION, Poo led a team of scientists that produced the world's first truly cloned primates, a pair of crab-eating macaques called Zhongzhong and Huahua in 2017, using somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). Early life Poo was born in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China on October 31, 1948. When he was one, his family moved to Taiwan because of the Chinese Communist Revolution.
