Pong Sarasin
Pong Sarasin (Thai: พงส์ สารสิน; 16 July 1927 – 3 February 2021) was a Thai businessman and politician, who served under Major General Chatichai Choonhavan's cabinet, acting as Deputy Prime Minister along with General Tienchai Sirisumpan in 1988. Family Pong was a scion of the wealthy Sarasin family, one of Bangkok's oldest assimilated Thai-Chinese business clans. Pong, although he was a leading member of Thailand's Social Action Party, is frequently associated with his politically active family: Pong was the son of former Prime Minister and SEATO Secretary-General Pote Sarasin; he is the brother of former Police Chief General and Interior Minister Pao Sarasin, as well as the brother of Arsa Sarasin, the former Foreign Minister and chief secretary of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej's office. __NOTOC__ The Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant ( th, เครื่องราชอิสริยาภรณ์อันเป็นที่เชิดชูยิ่งช้างเผือก; ) is an order (decoration), order of Thailand. It was established in 1861 by King Mongkut, Rama IV of the Thailand, Kingdom of Siam. Along with the Order of the Crown of Thailand, it is regularly awarded to any government official for services rendered to Thailand for five years, making it Thailand's most-commonly awarded order. The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) ( th, สํานักข่าวกรองเเห่งชาติ) is a counterintelligence and security agency of Thailand. It serves as part of the Office of the Prime Minister. Its headquarters is in Paruskavan Palace, Bangkok. History The government established the Department of Administrative Intelligence under the Cabinet of Thailand on 1 January 1954. Phao Sriyanond was appointed as its first director. On 2 December 1959 it was renamed the Department of Central Intelligence and renamed again as the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) during the government of Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanonda. A note is a string of text placed at the bottom of a page in a book or document or at the end of a chapter, volume, or the whole text. The note can provide an author's comments on the main text or citations of a reference work in support of the text. The ''Royal Thai Government Gazette'' (, ), frequently abbreviated to ''Government Gazette'' (GG) or ''Royal Gazette'' (RG), is the public journal and newspaper of record of Thailand. Laws passed by the government generally come into force after publication in the GG. The Royal Thai Government Gazette was the first Thai-language newspaper to appear in the kingdom and is also one of the earliest newspapers in Asia that is still in publication. The Cabinet Secretariat, a department in the Office of the Prime Minister, is charged with printing the GG. History The GG was first issued on 15 March 1858 by King Rama IV to inform government officials and the general public of news about the country.
