Pomona Railway Station
Pomona railway station is a railway station on Factory Street, Pomona, Shire of Noosa, Queensland, Australia. It is on the North Coast railway line serving the town of Pomona. It was designed by the Office of the Chief Engineer of Queensland Rail and built and opened in 1891 by Fitzwilliam Williams. Originally called Pinbarren Siding from 1891, the location was renamed to Pinbarren railway station in 1897 and then to its current name Pomona railway station in 1900. History Pinbarren Siding opened in 1891 with completion of the line from Cooran to Cooroy. In 1895 the Widgee Divisional Board received a petition from local ratepayers pointing out that a railway siding was being built near their selections and urging construction of a road to connect Yandina Road with the new railway siding. Pomona is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Noosa, Queensland, Australia. In the the locality of Pomona had a population of 2,910 people. It was originally founded as a print newspaper, however since 2020 the publication is only available in digital forms. Cooran is a rural hinterland town and locality in the Shire of Noosa, Queensland, Australia. In the the locality of Cooran had a population of 1,624 people. Geography Cooran is predominantly farming land with its urban centre in the north of the locality. Pinbarren Creek and Six Mile Creek flow from east to west through the northern part of the locality, while Coles Creek flows from east to west through the southern part of the locality. All the creeks flow into the Mary River. The Bruce Highway passes through the south-west corner of the locality but does not pass through the town. Gympie North Railway Station
Gympie North railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the town of Gympie. History Gympie North was opened on 4 February 1989 as a replacement for Gympie station, when the latter was bypassed by a new eight kilometre alignment that was built as part of the electrification of the North Coast line. Queensland Rail City Network
The Queensland Rail Citytrain network, provides urban, suburban and interurban electric passenger railway services in South East Queensland, Australia. History The first railway in Queensland did not run to Brisbane, but ran from Ipswich to Grandchester and opened in July 1865. The line into Brisbane was not completed until the opening of the Albert Bridge in July 1875. A start on electrification of the suburban network was approved in 1950 but a change of state government in 1957 saw the scheme abandoned in 1959. It was not until the 1970s that electrification was again brought up, with contracts let in 1975. The first part of the new electric system from Darra to Ferny Grove opened on 17 November 1979. Yurol railway station is a former railway station at on Elm Street, Cooroy, Shire of Noosa, Queensland, Australia. It is on the North Coast railway line serving the area of Yurol. It was designed by the Office of the Chief Engineer of Queensland Rail and upgraded by the Department of Railways including a siding and level crossing in 1915 following its original construction in 1912 with significant input from the Noosa Council. Originally called Thorley's Siding it was renamed to Yurol Siding in 1915 and was equipped with interlocking gear and used as a Telegraph station. Central railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It is the principal station on the City network and is located in the north of the Brisbane central business district. Central station is one of four inner city stations that form a core corridor through the centre of Brisbane. History The first building for Central railway station was a structure of wood and corrugated galvanised iron, and opened on 18 August 1889 as the terminus of the line when it was extended from Roma Street railway station. In 1891, the tunnel to Brunswick Street station (now Fortitude Valley) was opened so trains could run directly from Central to northern destinations.
