Polly Allen Mellen
Polly Mellen (''née'' Allen; born June 18, 1924) is an American stylist and retired fashion editor. For more than sixty years, she served as the fashion editor at ''Harper's Bazaar'' and ''Vogue''. From 1991 to 1999 she was the creative director of '' Allure''. Mellen formally retired from Conde Nast Publications in 1994 and remains a consultant on various projects. Personal life and education She was born on June 18, 1924. and raised in West Hartford, Connecticut, and attended Miss Porter's School. Mellen was married to Henry Wigglesworth Mellen from 1965 until his death in 2014. Before she started her career in design, she worked as a nurse's aide in World War II. Career Mellen's career began as the protégée of Diana Vreeland. Her start in the fashion was with Lord & Taylor as a salesgirl and display designer. West Hartford is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States, west of downtown Hartford. The population was 64,083 at the 2020 census. Helmut Newton (born Helmut Neustädter; 31 October 192023 January 2004) was a German-Australian photographer. The ''New York Times'' described him as a "prolific, widely imitated fashion photographer whose provocative, erotically charged black-and-white photos were a mainstay of ''Vogue'' and other publications." Early life Newton was born in Berlin, the son of Klara "Claire" (née Marquis) and Max Neustädter, a button factory owner. His family was Jewish. ''Unzipped'' is a 1995 American documentary film directed by Douglas Keeve. Isaac Mizrahi (born October 14, 1961) is an American fashion designer, television presenter and chief designer of the Isaac Mizrahi brand for Xcel Brands. Based in New York City, he is best known for his eponymous fashion lines. Mizrahi was previously a judge on ''Project Runway All Stars''. Early life Mizrahi was born in Brooklyn, the son of Sarah, and Zeke Mizrahi, who was a children's clothing manufacturer. He is of Egyptian-Jewish and Syrian-Jewish descent.
