Cedartown is a city and the county seat of Polk County, Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 10,190. Cedartown is the principal city of and is included in the Cedartown, Georgia Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Gainesville, Georgia-Alabama (part) Combined Statistical Area. The Cedartown Commercial Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Cedartown Waterworks-Woman's Building-Big Spring Park Historic District is also listed along with the Northwest Cedartown Historic District and South Philpot Street Historic District. History Cherokee and Creek Native Americans first inhabited the area known as Cedar Valley. Rockmart is a town in Polk County, Georgia, United States. Its population was 4,732 at the 2020 census. It developed as a railroad depot town when the Southern Railway built a station in the area. Cedartown High School
Cedartown High School (also known as the Cedartown Bulldogs or CHS) is the only high school in Cedartown, Georgia, United States. As of the 2011-2012 school year, it had an enrollment of 1,081 students and 67 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 16.13. History Cedartown High School was founded in 1887. In 1903 it created a football team with the mascot "The Cedartown Bulldogs." By the 1930s the school was rebuilt in a new location in order to serve the growing teenage population of the town. Vocational or "elective" classes were added in the 1930s and a school band in 1941. In 1970 the school was rebuilt at another location in the town. Cedartown High School enrolls around 1200 students per year. It still goes by the mascot of the bulldog, symbolizing strength and endurance. The school colors are still red and black. Rockmart High School
Rockmart High School (RHS) also known as the Fighting Yellow Jackets is the only high school in Rockmart, Georgia, United States. It is fed by Rockmart Middle School and by the Aragon community. As of the 2019–20 school year, the school had an enrollment of 961 students and a faculty of 44.80 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 21.45. History In 1912, the Georgia Legislature created the state's public school system. That year, the city of Rockmart began the Rockmart School System in the building vacated by the Piedmont Institution (established in 1889 by the Methodist North Georgia Annual Conference). It had closed after a 23-year existence in 1912 after it was purchased by the Rockmart School Board of trustees.
