Political Desk () is a South Korean news program airing on JTBC. It has a lighthearted, sometimes satirical, approach to political events in South Korea. It is presented by Lee Sang-bok, with Cho Ik-shin, Shin Hye-won, Ryu Jeong-hwa, Park Joon-woo and Baek Da-hye. It airs Monday to Friday at 16:30 KST. History and format Origins Kim Pil-kyu had the idea of producing a political newscast, and he drew a cartoon about it, which was posted on the show's official Twitter account. Originally called ''Report! Political Meeting at 4:00'', it premiered on April 7, 2014. It was presented by Choi Sang-yeon, with Oh Dae-young, Yang Won-bo, Nam Gung-wook and Lee Sung-dae on the panel representing the ruling party, National Assembly, the Blue House, and the opposition, respectively. Its primary shareholder is JoongAng Holdings, with a 25% stake. It was launched on 1 December 2011. The 56th Baeksang Arts Awards () ceremony, organised by ''Ilgan Sports'' and JTBC Plus, was held on June 5, 2020, at KINTEX, Ilsanseo-gu, Gyeonggi Province, hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Bae Suzy and Park Bo-gum for the third consecutive year. The annual awards ceremony is one of South Korea's most prestigious award shows, recognizing excellence in film, television, and theatre. The Asian Cup was an ice hockey tournament featuring national teams from the continent of Asia from 1992 to 1995. It was organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. History The first tournament was scheduled to be played in February 1991, but it was moved to January 1992 due to the Second Gulf War. Four teams participated in the tournament, held in Obihiro, with Japan winning by virtue of defeating China in the final. The same four teams participated in the 1993 tournament, held in Sapporo. It was again won by Japan, which finished the tournament undefeated. The tournament was not held in 1994, but resumed in 1995, this time being held in Seoul. ''Let's Eat Dinner Together'' (), also known as ''Dining Together'', is a South Korean television program starring Lee Kyung-kyu and Kang Ho-dong. This is a documentary-like program that traces the journey of two men who have been called as "National MCs" (due to their appearances on many South Korean entertainment programs) in finding dinner. COVID-19 Pandemic In South Korea
The COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 () caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (). The first case in South Korea was announced on 20 January 2020. The number of confirmed cases increased on 19 February by 20, and on 20 February by 58 or 70, giving a total of 346 confirmed cases on 21 February 2020, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), with the sudden jump mostly attributed to "Patient 31" who participated in a gathering at a Shincheonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony church in Daegu. Ahn Na-kyung
Ahn Na-kyung (born 10 October 1989) is a South Korean anchor. She is the current co-anchor for JTBC flagship newscast JTBC Newsroom. Biography Ahn joined JTBC in 2014 as an announcer. During her final interview, Sohn Suk-hee asked her what she'll do if she fails the announcer exam, of which she answered: "I'll find ways to work here, even if it means becoming a janitress." Two months after, she became an interim anchor for JTBC News Morning& when Hwang Nam-hee went on maternity leave. She would then become the host for JTBC Newsroom's sports segment until becoming the new sub-anchor for its weekend edition in 2015, succeeding Lee Ji-eun.
