Polferries
Polferries is the largest Polish ferry operator. The Polish Baltic Shipping Company was established on 31 January 1976 as a state-owned shipping company. Under the operating name ''Polferries'', the company runs ferry routes across the Baltic Sea between Poland and Scandinavia. In 1996 Polferries approved quality assurance system the International Safety Management Code (ISM). In May 1997 the company was recognised as meeting the requirements of the Quality Management Certificate ISO 9002. It became legally recognised as a corporate body in 1992. Until 2001, Polferries had owned two ferry terminals in Poland, the Ferry Terminal in Gdańsk and the Ferry Terminal in Świnoujście. Today, the company runs the Ferry Terminal in Gdańsk. MS Wawel
MS ''Wawel'' is a ferry launched in 1979 as the ''Scandinavia''. She spent a large part of her career serving the Dover-Calais cross channel ferry route with successive operators. She is currently in service with Polferries as the ''Wawel''. Early years The ''Wawel'' started life as the ''Scandinavia'', ordered by and for Rederi AB Nordö, Malmö for services in the Eastern Mediterranean. She was launched at the Kockums Varv AB shipyard in Malmö, Sweden on 1 December 1979 and delivered to Rederi AB Nordö on 17 March 1980, opening a service between Koper, Yugoslavia and Tartous, Syria in April 1980. On 7 June 1980, the ''Scandinavia''s sister ship, capsized on her maiden voyage roughly 2 km away from Larnaca, Cyprus, this precipitated the end of Rederi's Yugoslavia to Syria service. MV Nova Star
MV ''Nova Star'' is a Ropax cruiseferry, currently operating between Poland and Scandinavia under the ownership of Polferries. Construction and service history The vessel was built by ST Marine in Singapore for LD Lines, which signed a $179 million contract for the vessel in 2007. She was intended to operate in the English Channel, but her contract was canceled in 2011 before she could take her maiden voyage to France. Initially named ''Norman Leader'', the vessel remained under the ownership of her builder, ST Marine, until being acquired by Nova Star Cruises in 2014 and renamed MV ''Nova Star'' for the Gulf of Maine service. She ran seasonal operations between Portland, Maine and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia under Nova Star Cruises for two seasons. HSC Boomerang
HSC ''Tallink AutoExpress 2'' was a fast passenger ferry (catamaran) operated by the Venezuelan ferry company Conferry on the line between Puerto la Cruz and Punta de Piedras, Margarita Island. History HSC ''Boomerang'' was built in 1997 by Austal in Australia and owned by Sea Tropid Co. Ltd. (Polferries). The vessel is of the AutoExpress 82-type designed by Austal. In 2001 the ship was bought by Tallink and renamed ''Tallink AutoExpress 2'', operating between Tallinn, Estonia, and Helsinki, Finland. On October 12, 2007, the ship collided with HSC ''SuperSeaCat Three'' in Tallinn Harbour, resulting a meter-long hole in the ship's side. No passengers were harmed in the incident. After that, the vessel was chartered to Conferry, a ferry operator in Venezuela. On November 3, the vessel arrived at the premises of Curaçao Drydock, after being delivered by Redwise. Baltic Sea
The Baltic Sea is an arm of the Atlantic Ocean that is enclosed by Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Sweden and the North and Central European Plain.
