''Polarity'' is a studio album by American hip hop group Norman, consisting of rappers Onry Ozzborn and Barfly, both members of the Pacific Northwest hip hop collective Oldominion. It was released on Under The Needle on March 4, 2003. The album is a rap opera concept album. Music The album is mostly produced by Onry Ozzborn and Smoke M2D6, with contributions from Pale Soul. Guest appearances include Pale Soul, Hyena, Sulfur, Toni Hill, and MyG. Background ''Polarity'' casts Onry Ozzborn and Barfly as the mind of a young man named Norman. Alternative Hip Hop
Alternative hip hop (also known as alternative rap) is a subgenre of hip hop music that encompasses a wide range of styles that are not typically identified as mainstream. AllMusic defines it as comprising " hip hop groups that refuse to conform to any of the traditional stereotypes of rap, such as gangsta, bass, hardcore, and party rap. Instead, they blur genres drawing equally from funk and pop/rock, as well as jazz, soul, reggae, and even folk." Michael Sean Martinez (born March 25, 1979), better known by his stage name Onry Ozzborn, is an American rapper and producer from Seattle, Washington. He is a founding member of alternative hip hop groups such as Grayskul, Dark Time Sunshine, and Oldominion, among others. A rap opera or hip hopera is a musical work in hip hop style with operatic form.
