Poissy station ( French: ''Gare de Poissy'') is a rail station in Poissy, France, at the western edge of Paris. Location The station is at kilometric point 25.835 of Paris–Le Havre railway. History The station is inaugurated on 9 May 1843, then rebuilt in the 1870s. The building is dismantled in 1987 to make room for the current station. From 29 May 1989, the station is a terminus of one of the three western branches of RER A. Service Train service Poissy is served by RER A trains running on branch A5. It is its terminus. Service frequency is three trains an hour at off-peak time, six trains an hour during peak hours and two trains an hour at evenings. Journey time to La Défense is around 20 minutes, and around 30 minutes to Châtelet – Les Halles. The station is also served by Transilien line J. The Réseau Express Régional ( en, Regional Express Network), commonly abbreviated RER (), is a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France, suburbs. It acts as a combined city-centre underground rail system and suburbs-to-city-centre commuter rail. In the city centre it acts much like the Paris Métro, though faster, having fewer stops. This has made it a model for proposals to improve transit within other cities. The network consists of five lines: RER A, A, RER B, B, RER C, C, RER D, D and RER E, E. The network has 257 stations and has interchanges with the Paris Métro, Métro and Transilien, commuter rail within the City of Paris and the suburbs. The lines are identified by letters to avoid confusion with the Métro lines, which are identified by numbers. Transilien Paris-Saint-Lazare is one of the sectors in the Paris Transilien suburban rail network. The trains on this sector depart from Gare Saint-Lazare in central Paris and serve the north and north-west of Île-de-France region with Transilien lines "J" and "L". Transilien services from Paris – Saint-Lazare are part of the SNCF Saint-Lazare rail network. The two lines are the busiest lines in the Transilien system, excluding lines signed as part of the RER.
