Pointe-aux-Trembles
Pointe-aux-Trembles was a municipality, founded in 1674, that was annexed by Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in 1982. This was the last city to be merged into Montreal until the 2002 municipal reorganization. On January 1, 2002 this neighbourhood at the far east end of the Island of Montreal became part of the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles–Montréal-Est. On January 1, 2006 Montreal East demerged, and the borough became Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles. One can find a windmill, at the corner of Notre-Dame Street and Third Avenue, which was built in 1719. Its three storeys make it the tallest windmill in Québec that still stands. Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles
Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles is a suburban borough (''arrondissement'') on the eastern tip of the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located at the eastern end of the Island of Montreal. Geography The borough is located at the eastern tip of the Island of Montreal. It is composed of the districts of Rivière-des-Prairies, Pointe-aux-Trembles and La Pointe-aux-Prairies, which were part of the City of Montreal prior to the 2002 municipal mergers. Prior to 2002, it was an exclave separated from the rest of Montreal by independent cities to the west. From January 1, 2002 to January 1, 2006, the borough included the town of Montreal East, which has now demerged from Montreal. The borough's name lists the two neighbourhoods according to their date of annexation to Montreal (Rivière-des-Prairies joined in 1963 and Pointe-aux-Trembles in 1982). Commission Scolaire De La Pointe-de-l'Île
The Commission scolaire de la Pointe-de-l'Île (CSPÎ) was a francophone school board in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, based primarily in the city's east end. It served Montréal-Nord, Saint-Léonard, Anjou, and Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles. It also served Montréal-Est, a municipality outside of the Montreal city limits. Its headquarters is in the Pointe-aux-Trembles area of Montreal. Commission scolaire de la Pointe-de-l'Île (Pointe-de-l'Île school commission or school board), was created by the government of Quebec on July 1, 1998, as part of a general restructuring from school boards representing religious communities to those representing linguistic communities. Pointe-aux-Trembles is a provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The district is located at the east point of the Island of Montreal and comprises the city of Montréal-Est and the neighbourhood of Pointe-aux-Trembles in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough of Montreal. Montréal-Est, Quebec
Montreal East (in French: ''Montréal-Est'') is an on-island suburb in southwestern Quebec, Canada, on the island of Montreal. Montreal-Est has been home to many large oil refineries since 1915. History The formation of Montréal-Est as a municipality was initiated in 1910 by businessman Joseph Versailles, who had bought of land there. The town was incorporated on 4 June 1910 under the name Montreal East, when it separated from Pointe-aux-Trembles and Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rivière-des-Prairies. Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles–Montréal-Est
Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles–Montréal-Est was a borough in the eastern end of Montréal, Québec. The borough was located at the eastern tip of the Island of Montréal. It was composed of parts of the City of Montreal prior to the January 1, 2002 municipal mergers, and the formerly independent municipality of Montréal-Est, Quebec. This was the only borough in the post-merger city that fused parts of the original city of Montréal with other former municipalities. In the June 20, 2004 referendum, Montréal-Est voted to return to being an independent municipality as of January 1, 2006. Neuville, Quebec
Neuville is a village on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River, just west of Quebec City, part of the Portneuf Regional County Municipality, Quebec, Canada. Founded in 1684, it remains picturesque. The 19th-century artist, Antoine Plamondon, ( 1804–1895) had moved here by 1850 with his mother, brother, and sister. Jean Basset ( – 20 November 1715) was a French Roman Catholic cleric and notary who served as a parish priest in New France from 1675 to 1715. Born in 1645 in France, Basset became an ecclesiastic in the Diocese of Lyons. In 1675, he traveled with other ecclesiastics to New France. Later in 1675, Basset was ordained as a priest. After his ordination, Basset served in the Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec in Quebec City. In 1678, Basset was assigned to the Île d’Orléans parish near Quebec City. In 1680, he was reassigned to the Pointe-aux-Trembles parish in Montreal. In 1682, Basset was sent to the Repentigny parish near Montreal.
