Pogoń Lwów (2009)
LKS Pogoń Lwów ( uk, Погонь Львів) is a Polish diaspora sports club which was located in Lviv in Ukraine. It was founded in 2009 by Poles in Ukraine to continue the traditions of the Pogoń Lwów (1904), original club of the same name, which was a very successful Poland, Polish club when the city was still part of Poland. History Predecessor The Pogoń Lwów (1904), original club was the second oldest Polish association football, football club behind other teams from Lwów – Czarni Lwów, Czarni and Lechia Lwów, Lechia. With numerous departments, among them football, ice hockey and track and field, Pogoń was a major force of Polish sports in the interbellum period; its football team was never relegated from the elite Ekstraklasa, Polish Football League. The club ceased to exist in September 1939, following Polish September Campaign, German and Soviet aggression on Poland. Polish Diaspora
The Polish diaspora comprises Poles and people of Polish heritage or origin who live outside Poland. The Polish diaspora is also known in modern Polish as ''Polonia'', the name for Poland in Latin and many Romance languages. There are roughly 20,000,000 people of Polish ancestry living outside Poland, making the Polish diaspora one of the largest in the world and one of the most widely dispersed. Reasons for the displacement include border shifts, forced expulsions, resettlement by voluntary and forced exile, and political or economic emigration. Substantial populations of Polish ancestry can be found in their native region of Central and Eastern Europe and in many other European countries as well as in the Americas and Australia. The Polonia in English-speaking countries often uses a dialect of Polish called ''Ponglish.'' It is made up of a Polish core with many English words inside it.
