Pocklington RUFC
Pocklington Rugby Football Club is an England, English rugby union team based in Pocklington, East Riding of Yorkshire. The club runs three senior sides, two colts teams and eleven junior teams with the first XV currently playing in North 1 East. The club hosts an annual Rugby sevens, Sevens tournament every Good Friday called the Pock 7s which attracts teams from across the north of England. History Rugby in Pocklington began in 1879 with Pocklington Rugby Club formed in 1928 following nearly half a century of teams coming and going in the East Yorkshire market town. Four years later the club bought its ground at Percy Road. In 1958 the club organised its first Sevens tournament and this has gone on to become one of the country's leading tournaments. Yorkshire Rugby Football Union
The Yorkshire Rugby Football Union is the governing body responsible for rugby union in the historic county of Yorkshire, England. It is one of the constituent bodies of the national Rugby Football Union having formed in 1869, the union was formerly called Yorkshire County Club. The county has won the county championship on 15 occasions, and finished as runners-up on a further eight occasions. The Yorkshire RFU also organises the Yorkshire Cup, which was inaugurated in 1878. North East 3
North East 3 was an English Rugby Union league which was at the ninth tier of the domestic competition and was available to teams in North East England. Promoted teams moved up to North East 2 while relegated teams dropped to either Yorkshire 1 or Durham/Northumberland 1 depending on their location. At the end of the 1999-2000 the division was cancelled along with North East 1, North East 2, and their counterparts North West 1, North West 2 and North West 3, due to northern league restructuring by the RFU. Most teams in North West 3 were transferred to their relevant regional leagues - Yorkshire 1 or Durham/Northumberland 1 - although one side went into Yorkshire 2. Rob Webber
Rob Webber (born 1 August 1986) is a former rugby union player. Webber's position of choice was as at hooker and he could also play in the back-row. He is currently head coach at Jersey Reds. Club career He played for Leeds Carnegie in the 2004–05 European Challenge Cup. Webber joined London Wasps ahead of the 2005–06 season. After initially breaking into the Wasps team as an open-side flanker, Webber established himself as the club's first choice hooker during the 2008–09 season. His form in the 2009–10 season saw him made Wasps captain during the absence of Tom Rees, and in March 2010 he agreed a new two-year deal with the club. In January 2012 he signed with Bath Rugby a three-year deal starting from the 2012–13 season. On 1 February 2016, Webber has signed for rivals Sale Sharks on a two-year deal from the 2016–17 season. Frank Mitchell (sportsman, Born 1872)
Frank Mitchell (13 August 1872 – 11 October 1935) was an English international cricketer and rugby union player. School, University and Yorkshire Born on 13 August 1872 in Market Weighton, Yorkshire, Mitchell was schooled at St Peter's School in York and captained the school side for two years before moving to Brighton, where he took up employment as a schoolmaster for another two years. This meant that when he went up to Cambridge University, where he was admitted to Caius College, he was older and more experienced than many of his contemporaries, and he swiftly moved into the university side, where he remained from 1894 to 1897. It was as captain of the university side in 1896 that Mitchell instructed his bowler to give away runs so that Oxford University would not be required to follow-on their innings (at the time sides surrendering an 80 run deficit in the first innings were required to follow-on). North East 2 (not to be confused with North 2 East) was an English Rugby Union league was at the eighth tier of the domestic competition when it was founded in 1987 and was available to teams in North East England. Promoted teams moved up to North East 1 while relegated teams dropped to Durham/Northumberland 1 and latterly North East 3. Pocklington
Pocklington is a market town and civil parish situated at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The 2011 Census recorded its population as 8,337. It is east of York and northwest of Hull. The town's skyline is marked by the 15th-century west tower of All Saints' parish church.
