Richard Jankovich (born August 7, 1972) is an American entrepreneur, musician and author in Los Angeles. He runs music promotion companShoplifterand brand consultancB(R)ANDS Music Branding Group His musical acts include Burnside Project, Big Mother Gig, Pocket and Mon Draggor. Burnside Project
Burnside Project is a New York–based electropop, indie rock band featuring Richard Jankovich, Gerald Hammill, and Paul Searing. In 2000, Jankovich released the self-titled Burnside Project CD independently which led to interest from record labels including Bar/None, whom Jankovich signed with in 2002. The album has been described as "some sort of bizarre pairing of DJ Spooky and Paul Westerberg." This album was subsequently re-mastered and re-packaged for wide release in 2007 on Fraga Records. Burnside Project's Bar/None debut, The Networks, the Circuits, the Streams, the Harmonies was released in 2003. Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III (born January 7, 1979), known professionally by his stage name Aloe Blacc (), is an American singer, songwriter and rapper. He is best known for his singles "I Need a Dollar", " The Man", which topped the charts in the United Kingdom, and for writing and performing vocals on Avicii's " Wake Me Up", which topped the charts in 22 countries, including Australia and the United Kingdom. Bar/None Records
Bar/None Records is an independent record label based in Hoboken, New Jersey. Early history Tom Prendergast started Bar/None in early 1986 in Hoboken, New Jersey. Having previously worked in pirate radio and booked and promoted bands in his native Ireland, Prendergast moved to Hoboken in 1982. The first release on Bar/None was by Rage to Live, whose leader, Glenn Morrow, soon became a partner in the label. Morrow had already built a network of contacts in the alternative music community having toured nationally with his previous band, The Individuals, and had also worked in the A&R department of Warner Bros. and as the managing editor of ''New York Rocker'' magazine. In 2000, Prendergast left New Jersey and moved back to Ireland, sold his shares to Morrow. Glen Phillips (singer)
Glen Phillips (born December 29, 1970) is an American songwriter, lyricist, singer and guitarist. He is best known as the singer and songwriter of the alternative rock group Toad the Wet Sprocket. Personal life Phillips was born to a Reform Jewish family in Santa Barbara, California, United States. Although his family was Jewish, with Glen having a Bar Mitzvah, his family was secular and Buddhism was studied, with this spiritual curiosity being present in his work. He began to make music at 14 years old. Phillips and his ex-wife, Laurel, have three daughters, Sophia, Freya, and Zola. The couple was married from 1989 to 2014. On October 8, 2008, Phillips injured his arm while at a friend's house when a glass coffee table collapsed while he was sitting on it. Mark Burgess (born 11 May 1960) is an English singer, bassist and songwriter, best known as the frontman of post-punk band the Chameleons. Early life and education Burgess was born in Manchester. Career In 1981, Burgess (ex-the Cliches) formed the Chameleons with guitarists Dave Fielding and Reg Smithies, and drummer John Lever. After three studio albums, the band broke up in 1987, with the relationship between Burgess and Fielding particularly strained. Burgess and Lever then formed the Sun and the Moon with guitarist Andy Clegg, who had played keyboards with the Chameleons and Andy Whitaker.
