Pocho Lapouble
Pocho Lapouble (1942 — 2009) was an Argentine jazz drummer, composer and arranger. Carlos Alberto ''Pocho'' Lapouble was born in La Plata. He and a group of local teens, including pianists Alberto Favero and Caco Álvarez, bassist Guri Baccaro, and trombonist Vicente Izzi, formed the La Plata Contemporary Jazz Group in 1959, performing together until 1968, and appearing in numerous university concerts and radio shows. He formed a trio with Favero and bassist Adalberto Cevasco, with whom he appeared in the contemporary music program at the Torcuato di Tella Institute in 1971, and in 1972 released his first album, ''Quinteplus'', for EMI. Lapouble became a prominent arranger and musician in the theatre, notably for Norma Aleandro, Inda Ledesma, Lito Cruz, and Juan Carlos Gené. La Plata
La Plata () is the capital city of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. According to the , it has a population of 654,324 and its metropolitan area, the Greater La Plata, has 787,294 inhabitants. Raúl Lavié (born August 22, 1937) nickname ''El Negro'', is an Argentine entertainer prominent in the Tango genre. Life and work Raúl Alberto Peralta was born in Álvarez, located in the Rosario Department of the Santa Fe Province, Argentina in 1937. He first sang on a local radio station in 1955 and was subsequently invited to perform on ''Radio Belgrano'' and ''Radio El Mundo'' in Buenos Aires. Roberto Pettinato
Roberto Pettinato (born December 15, 1955 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentina, Argentine musician, journalist, and television presenter. Early life Pettinato's father, Roberto Sr., was a high-ranking corrections officer in the administration of Juan Perón. When a coup deposed Perón in 1955, he and his family took refuge in the embassy of Ecuador, where Roberto Jr. was born. After obtaining a safe conduct and leaving for Ecuador, the family lived in Peru and Chile until allowed to return to Argentina in 1966. Dino Saluzzi
Timoteo "Dino" Saluzzi (born 20 May 1935) is an Argentinian bandoneon player. He is the son of Cayetano Saluzzi and the father of guitarist José Maria Saluzzi. Early life, family and education Timoteo "Dino" Saluzzi was born in Campo Santo, Salta Province, Argentina. He began playing the bandoneon as a child. His father Cayetano Saluzzi was influential in his involvement with music. For much of his youth, Saluzzi lived in Buenos Aires. Career Dino has been playing the bandoneon since his childhood. Rodolfo Mederos
Rodolfo Mederos (born March 25, 1940) is an Argentine bandoneonist, composer and arranger. He lived in Cuba and France; in Argentina, he founded the experimental group Generación Cero. Early life Mederos was born in the Constitución neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. He spent his childhood in the province of Entre Ríos, and later went to the University of Córdoba to study biology. As a young man he was an admirer of fellow bandoneonist Ástor Piazzolla. He played with Piazzolla for several years before joining the Osvaldo Pugliese Orchestra, alongside other young musicians. 1960s After 1960 he formed his early groups to play at provincial radio stations and on television. Nuevo Tango
Nuevo tango is both a form of music in which new elements are incorporated into traditional tango music, and an evolution of tango dance that began to develop in the 1980s. Dance Origins Prior to the 1990s, Argentine tango was taught with a didactic method; teaching tango by having students copy examples shown by the instructor. Emphasis was not given to how or why movement was done a certain way. Bandoneonist
The bandoneon (or bandonion, es, bandoneón) is a type of concertina particularly popular in Argentina and Uruguay. It is a typical instrument in most tango ensembles. As with other members of the concertina family, the bandoneon is held between the hands, and by pulling and pushing actions force air through bellows and then routing air through particular reeds as by pressing the instrument's buttons. Bandoneons have a different sound from accordions, because bandoneons do not usually have the register switches that are common on accordions.
