Plymouth Life Centre Indoor Bowls Club
The Plymouth Life Centre Indoor Bowls Club, an indoor bowls club, was formed in 1969 under the name of Plymouth Indoor Bowls Club, initially playing on a roll out mat by the swimming pool in Central Park, Plymouth. The club has gone from strength to strength, members winning national and regional titles. The club re-located to Plymouth Life Centre in 2011 and took their new name to reflect their new location. In 2012, they raised £1,662.65 for the Highbury Trust in Plymouth. The club is affiliated to the EIBA, ( English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd). Bowls
Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a bowling green, which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown green bowls"). It is normally played outdoors (although there are many indoor venues) and the outdoor surface is either natural grass, artificial turf or cotula (in New Zealand). Central Park, Plymouth
Plymouth's Central Park is situated to the north-east of Plymouth city centre in south-west Devon, England. Covering 68 hectares, Central Park is the largest park in Plymouth. It was created in 1928 with the aim to improve the health of the city's residents. The park is trust land; developments on the land must be for the purpose of leisure activities. Plymouth
Plymouth () is a port city and unitary authority in South West England. It is located on the south coast of Devon, approximately south-west of Exeter and south-west of London. Plymouth Life Centre
The Plymouth Life Centre is a leisure centre in Central Park, Plymouth run by Plymouth Active (Previously Everyone Active) in partnership with Plymouth City Council. Its facilities include a family leisure pool, a climbing wall, an eight-lane indoor bowls centre, fitness suite, a 10 lane 50-metre Olympic standard swimming pool, an Olympic standard diving pool, along with dryside training facilities, showers and a multipurpose area for dance and martial arts. It is currently the only 12 court multipurpose sports hall in Devon. The climbing wall facility is managed by High Sports. The aquatic facilities are the largest facility in southern England and were used by several teams training for the 2012 Olympics.
