Plymouth Argyle F.C., Plymouth Argyle Football Club is an English association football club based in Plymouth, Devon. Founded in 1886 as ''Argyle Football Club'', they became a professional club in January 1903, and were elected to the Southern Football League, Southern League ahead of the 1903–04 season. The club won the Southern League championship in 1913 and finished as runners-up on two occasions, before being elected to the Football League in 1920, where they compete to this day, as a founder member of the Football League Third Division, Third Division. Argyle won their first Football League championship, and Promotion and relegation, promotion to the Second Division for the first time, ten years later in 1930. Bob Jack
Robert "Bob" Jack (4 April 1876 – 6 May 1943) was a Scottish football player and manager. Born in Alloa, Jack played in the Football League for Bolton Wanderers, Preston North End and Glossop, and the Southern League for Plymouth Argyle and Southend United. He was an outside forward. Jack is Argyle's most successful and longest-serving manager. During his 29 years in charge, the club won two league championships and established itself in the Second Division of the Football League. Jack also managed Southend for four years. His son, David, scored the first goal at Wembley Stadium. Playing career Jack began his career with Alloa Athletic, making his debut at the age of 15 and turning professional in 1893. He moved to Bolton Wanderers in 1895. He was Bolton's leading scorer in the 1896–97 season with 11 goals. He played a total for 110 league and 15 FA Cup games for the club, scoring 29 goals. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. Anthony Charles Capaldi (born 12 August 1981) is a former footballer who made nearly 250 appearances in the Football League and is a former Northern Ireland international. Tommy Tynan
Thomas Edward Tynan (born 17 November 1955) is an English retired professional footballer. A hard working striker with flowing blonde hair, Tynan was signed as an apprentice for Liverpool by manager Bill Shankly after winning a talent contest run by the ''Liverpool Echo'' newspaper, but he never made a first-team appearance for the Reds, and was transferred to Sheffield Wednesday in 1976, where he spent two years and scored 31 goals. Samuel Black ISM (18 October 1905 – 1977) was a Scottish footballer who played as an outside left. Often regarded as the greatest player to have represented Plymouth Argyle,Plymouth Argyle 101 Golden Greats, Andy Riddle he is the club's all-time record scorer with 182 goals.
