''Pluto’s Blue Note'' is a 1947 animated short film produced by Walt Disney Productions that stars Pluto. The film was nominated for the 1948 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film but lost to Warner Bros.’ ''Tweetie Pie''. Plot Pluto wakes up to the sound of two birds singing. He tries to sing along with them but is unsuccessful, causing them to fly away annoyed. Pluto also tries to imitate the sound of a bee and cricket, but he annoys them as well. Pluto then hears the sound of a radio beating at a nearby music store and discovers that he can emulate it by pounding his tail on the ground. However, the store proprietor takes it inside just as Pluto begins enjoying himself. Pluto attempts to sneak inside to play the radio some more. However, he accidentally discovers that his tail can function like a record player’s stylus. Charles August Nichols
Charles August "Nick" Nichols (September 15, 1910 – August 23, 1992) was an American animator and film director, who worked in animation for over 50 years at Walt Disney Animation Studios and Hanna-Barbera. At Disney, he worked on various short subjects and films from the 1940s into the 1950s, including the Academy Award-winning short ''Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom'' (1953). Nichols co-directed ''Charlotte's Web (1973 film), Charlotte's Web'' (1973) while at Hanna-Barbera. Biography Nichols was born in Milford, Utah. As an animator for Disney, his first credit was on the film ''Pinocchio (1940 film), Pinocchio'', where he was the lead animator for the villainous The Coachman, Coachman. The Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film is an award given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) as part of the annual Academy Awards, or Oscars, since the 5th Academy Awards (with different names), covering the year 1931–32, to the present. In physics, mathematics, and related fields, a wave is a propagating dynamic disturbance (change from equilibrium) of one or more quantities. Waves can be periodic, in which case those quantities oscillate repeatedly about an equilibrium (resting) value at some frequency. ''Tweetie Pie'' is a 1947 Warner Bros. '' Merrie Melodies'' cartoon directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on May 3, 1947, and stars Tweety with Sylvester the Cat, who is called "Thomas" in this cartoon. ''Tweetie Pie'' marks the first pairing of the characters Sylvester and Tweety, and it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1947, breaking ''Tom and Jerry''s streak of four consecutive wins in the category and winning Warner Bros. their first Academy Award. RKO Radio Pictures Inc., commonly known as RKO Pictures or simply RKO, was an American film production and distribution company, one of the "Big Five" film studios of Hollywood's Golden Age.
