Pluralibacter Gergoviae
''Pluralibacter gergoviae'' (formerly ''Enterobacter gergoviae'') is a Gram-negative, motile, facultatively-anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium. ''P. gergoviae'' is of special interest to the cosmetics industry, as it displays resistance to parabens, a common antimicrobial agent added to cosmetic products. Background ''Enterobacter gergoviae'' was first proposed as a novel species in 1980. The species name is derived from the Gergovie plateau, which is located near Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital; the type strain was isolated at this hospital during a nosocomial outbreak of ''P. gergoviae.'' In 2013, the species was reclassified into the novel genus, ''Pluralibacter'', and is the type species for the genus. ''Pluralibacter gergoviae'' has been isolated from maize, grapes, coffee beans, spring water, fruit flies, and pink bollworms. ''Pluralibacter pyrinus'' (formerly ''Enterobacter pyrinus'') is a Gram-negative, motile, facultatively-anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium. ''P. pyrinus'' is the causitive agent of brown leaf spot disease of pear trees. Background The cause of brown leaf spot disease affecting pear trees in South Korea was first identified as a novel bacterial infection in 1990. The proposed name for the species was ''Erwinia pirina'', but this name was not validly published. In 1993, further research grouped the organism in the genus '' Enterobacter'' as ''E. pyrinus.'' Enterobacter
''Enterobacter'' is a genus of common Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming bacteria of the family Enterobacteriaceae. It is the type genus of the order Enterobacterales. Several strains of these bacteria are pathogenic and cause opportunistic infections in immunocompromised (usually hospitalized) hosts and in those who are on mechanical ventilation.
