Willy Enrique Meyer Pleite (born 19 August 1952, in Madrid) is a Spanish politician and Member of the European Parliament with the Izquierda Unida (United Left). He is a member of the bureau of the European United Left–Nordic Green Left, and sits on the European Parliament's Committee on Fisheries, Committee on Foreign Affairs, and the Committee on Petitions. He is a substitute for the Committee on Development. Meyer Pleite was born in Madrid. He is a member of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) since 1970. 2014 European Parliament Election In Spain
The 2014 European Parliament election in Spain was held on Sunday, 25 May 2014, as part of the EU-wide election to elect the 8th European Parliament. All 54 seats allocated to Spain as per the Treaty of Lisbon were up for election. The People's Party (PP) emerged as the largest party overall, albeit with its worst nationwide election result in 25 years with a mere 26.1% of the share and 16 seats, losing 2.6 million votes and 8 seats from its 2009 result. The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) lost 9 seats and 2.5 million votes, obtaining just 23% of the total party vote and 14 seats. Initiative For Catalonia Greens
Initiative for Catalonia Greens ( ca, Iniciativa per Catalunya Verds, ICV; ) was an eco-socialist political party in Catalonia. It was formed as a merger of Iniciativa per Catalunya and Els Verds. IC had been an alliance led by Partit Socialista Unificat de Catalunya and was the equivalent of Izquierda Unida in Catalonia. IC later developed into a political party, and PSUC was dissolved.
