Pleuron (insect)
The pleuron (pl. pleura, from greek language, Greek side, rib) is a lateral sclerite of thorax, thoracic segment (biology), segment of an insect between the tergum and the sternum (arthropod anatomy), sternum. The terms propleuron, pro-, mesopleuron, meso- and metapleuron are used respectively for the pleura of the first, second and third thoracic segments.
