Vietnam War
The Vietnam War (also known by #Names, other names) was a conflict in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 November 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. Robert McDade
Robert Alexander McDade (August 11, 1922 – October 14, 2009) was a United States Army colonel. He is best known as a Lieutenant colonel (United States), lieutenant colonel in command of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, at the Battle of la Drang in 1965, during the Vietnam War. Military career McDade was one of relatively few officers to serve with an infantry unit in three wars – the Pacific Ocean theater of World War II, South Pacific in World War II, where he commanded a rifle platoon, the Korean War, where he commanded a rifle company, and the Vietnam War, where he commanded an infantry battalion. He was wounded in action four times. Besides his combat assignments, Mcdade held military posts in Washington, D.C., New York City, Germany and Panama. The Battle of Ia Drang (, ; in English ) was the first major battle between the United States Army and the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN), as part of the Pleiku Campaign conducted early in the Vietnam War, at the eastern foot of the Chu Pong Massif in the central highlands of Vietnam, in 1965. It is notable for being the first large scale helicopter air assault and also the first use of Boeing B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers in a tactical support role. Nguyễn Hữu An (October 1, 1926 – April 9, 1995) was a general in the People's Army of Vietnam. Overview Nguyễn Hữu An was born in the Truong Yen Commune of the Hoa Lư District, Ninh Bình, Vietnam.
