Donald Gallaher
Donald Gallaher (June 25, 1895 – August 14, 1961) was an American actor who appeared in 25 films between 1903 and 1949. He also directed five films, including ''Temple Tower'' (1930). His name is sometimes misspelled "Gallagher". Early years Gallaher was born in Quincy, Illinois. After moving to New York City as a child with his mother, he began acting in productions such as ''A Royal Family''. He had 10 roles in plays before he reached age 12. Career When he was four years old, Gallaher debuted as an actor portraying Rip in Sol Smith Russell's production of ''Poor Relations''. When he was 15, he ceased acting for two years and pitched in semi-professional baseball on Long Island. He returned to the stage at age 17. Charlotte Merriam
Charlotte Merriam (April 5, 1903 – July 10, 1972) was an American motion picture actress. Career Bessie Charlotte Merriam was the daughter of army colonel Henry Clay Merriam (1879-1955) and born in Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Her film career began in 1919 at the age of 16 with a role in ''The Flip of a Coin''. While visiting Universal Pictures that year, she was offered a part in a comedy series starring Eddie Lyons and Leo Moran, possibly to replace their female regular, Betty Compson, who graduated to features. Merriam accepted. Afterward, she played leads in one- and two-reel comedies, and appeared in important parts in longer features. She performed with Colleen Moore in ''The Nth Commandment'' (1923) and was the female lead in '' The Brass Bottle'' (1923), directed by Maurice Tourneur. Rex Bell
Rex Bell (born George Francis Beldam; October 16, 1903 – July 4, 1962) was an American actor and politician. Bell primarily appeared in Western films during his career. He also appeared in the 1930 movie ''True to the Navy'', starring Clara Bow; Bell and Bow married the following year. Bell later became involved in politics with the Nevada Republican Party and was the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1955 until his death in 1962. Early years Bell was born George Francis Beldam in Chicago on October 16, 1903. Film career Bell made his film debut in '' Wild West Romance'' in 1928, and went on to act in a number of films, mostly Westerns, in which he had the lead role. Fox Film
The Fox Film Corporation (also known as Fox Studios) was an American Independent film production studio formed by William Fox (1879–1952) in 1915, by combining his earlier Greater New York Film Rental Company and Box Office Attractions Film Company (founded 1913). The company's first film studios were set up in Fort Lee, New Jersey, but in 1917, William Fox sent Sol M. Wurtzel to Hollywood, California to oversee the studio's new West Coast production facilities, where the climate was more hospitable for filmmaking. On July 23, 1926, the company bought the patents of the Movietone sound system for recording sound onto film.
