''Please Sir!'' is a British television sitcom created by John Esmonde and Bob Larbey and featuring actors John Alderton, Deryck Guyler, Penny Spencer, Joan Sanderson, Noel Howlett, Erik Chitty and Richard Davies. Produced by London Weekend Television for ITV, the series ran for 55 episodes between 1968 and 1972. The theme tune "School's Out" was by Sam Fonteyn. The title derives from the then-standard request phrase used in Britain when they wish to interrupt the teacher with a question. Although the series is based around a class of 16-year-old pupils, all of the actors in these roles were in fact in their early 20s and looked distinctly too old for the setting. Malcolm McFee
Malcolm Raymond McFee (16 August 1949 – 18 November 2001) was an English actor best known for his role as Peter Craven in the TV series ''Please Sir!'', the film of the same name, and the spin-off TV series ''The Fenn Street Gang''. Career Malcolm McFee made his first appearance on television in 1967. In 1968, he began a three-season stint in the London Weekend Television situation comedy series ''Please Sir!'' playing the part of smooth wide-boy Peter Craven. He continued the role into the 1971 feature film comedy version, also called ''Please Sir! (film), Please Sir!''. McFee had made his film debut in the 1969 satirical anti-war musical ''Oh! ''Please Sir!'' is a 1971 British comedy film directed by Mark Stuart and starring John Alderton, Deryck Guyler and Carol Hawkins. It is a spin-off from the ITV television series of the same name which ran from 1968 to 1972. The film was shot at Pinewood Studios and on location in London in Primrose Hill and Willesden. The country park scenes were shot at Black Park, close to Pinewood in Buckinghamshire. Produced by L.W.I. Productions, it was released by the Rank Organisation on 10 September 1971. John Alderton
John Alderton (born 27 November 1940) is an English actor. He is best known for his roles in '' Upstairs, Downstairs'', ''Thomas & Sarah'', ''Wodehouse Playhouse'', ''Little Miss'' (original television series), ''Please Sir!'', ''No, Honestly'' and ''Fireman Sam'' (the original series). John Glynn Edwards (2 February 1931 – 23 May 2018) was a British television and cinema character actor, who came to national prominence for his portrayal of the barman Dave Harris in the 1970s–1990s British television comedy-drama ''Minder''. Bernard Holley
Bernard John Holley (9 August 1940 – 22 November 2021) was a British actor whose career spanned more than six decades. Life and career Holley was born in Eastcote, Middlesex. He attended Kilburn Grammar School and the Rose Bruford Drama School, and made his first professional stage appearance at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln, in 1963. Holley came to notice in the long-running UK police drama series ''Z-Cars'' as PC Newcombe, a character he played for four years. George Morris Baker, MBE (1 April 19317 October 2011) was an English actor and writer.
