Pleasant Run (New Jersey)
Pleasant Run is a tributary of the South Branch Raritan River in central New Jersey in the United States. Pleasant Run is approximately in length, running from its headwaters near Cushetunk Mountain, a plutonic intrusion of igneous rock surrounding Round Valley Reservoir, through Readington and Branchburg, to its convergence with the South Branch Raritan River near River Road in Branchburg. Pleasant Run was originally called Campbell's Brook after John Campbell of Piscataway. Readington, New Jersey
Readington Township is a township located in the easternmost portion of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 16,126, reflecting an increase of 323 (+2.0%) from the 15,803 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 2,403 (+17.9%) from the 13,400 counted in the 1990 Census. Description The source of the South Branch is the outflow from Budd Lake, a glacial remnant located a few miles northeast of Hackettstown. Round Valley Reservoir
The Round Valley Reservoir in Clinton Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States, was formed in 1960 when the New Jersey Water Authority constructed two large dams and flooded a large valley. The reservoir is named after the naturally formed circular valley surrounded by Cushetunk Mountain. The deep valley was caused by erosion of the soft sedimentary rock. The surrounding ridges of Cushetunk Mountain endure because they were underlaid with dense and durable volcanic rock diabase that cooled slowly under the surface of the earth. The reservoir covers what used to be a farming community, with remains of a school and a church on the lake floor among other buildings. Old York Road
Old York Road (originally York Road, with reference to New York) is a roadway that was built during the 18th century to connect Philadelphia with New York City. Through New Jersey it was built along the Raritan (Unami tribe) "Naraticong Trail", also known as the Tuckaraming Trail.
