Charley Chase
Charles Joseph Parrott (October 20, 1893 – June 20, 1940), known professionally as Charley Chase, was an American comedian, actor, screenwriter and film director. He worked for many pioneering comedy studios but is chiefly associated with producer Hal Roach. Chase was the elder brother of comedian/director James Parrott. Life and career Born Charles Joseph Parrott in Baltimore, Maryland, Charley Chase began performing in vaudeville as a teenager and started his career in films by working at the Christie Film Company in 1912. He then moved to Keystone Studios, where he began appearing in bit parts in the Mack Sennett films, including those of Charlie Chaplin. By 1915 he was playing juvenile leads in the Keystones, and directing some of the films as Charles Parrott. Myrtle Lind
Margaret Victoria Anderson (September 2, 1898 – October 12, 1993) known professionally as Myrtle Lind was an American film actress. She was one of Mack Sennett's Sennett's Bathing Beauties, Bathing Beauties and appeared in several comedy films including with Oliver Hardy and John Gilbert (actor), John Gilbert. The Library of Congress has a photo of her holding a large camera on the beach. Lind transitioned from Bathing Beauty to an actress opposite comedians and then to drama. The Sun Sentinel ran an obituary for her in 1993 stating she became known as Margaret E. Stevenson (widow of Harold Stevenson, born in Wisconsin in 1898). Early life and career Myrtle Lind was born Margaret Victoria Anderson in Mankato, Minnesota in 1898 (Lind was a family name). Myrtle's mother Elizabeth Anderson was born in Sweden. Ethel Marie Burton Palmer (October 23, 1897 - May 1985) was an American comedic film actress. Biography Burton was born in New York City and began working in films in 1915. She worked for Vitagraph, World Comedy Stars Film Company and Vim Comedy Company. She often appeared as a supporting actress in films with Billy West and Oliver Hardy. She co-starred in the first four Billy West comedies, during which time she met director Arvid E. Gillstrom. They became a couple and were married in 1917. Burton and Gillstrom divorced in 1931 and Burton continued acting under the name Ethel Gillstrom. Billy West (silent Film Actor)
Billy West (September 22, 1892 – July 21, 1975) was a film actor, producer, and director. Active during the silent film era, he is best known as a semi-successful Charlie Chaplin impersonator. Beyond acting, he also directed shorts in the 1910s and 20s, as well as produced films. West ultimately retired in 1935. Early career Born Roy B. Weisberg (or ''Weissberg'') in the Russian Empire to a Jewish family, West emigrated to Chicago with his family in 1896. He appeared in many short films, first in ''Apartment No. 13'' in 1912. Chaplin impersonation In 1917 movie theaters could not get enough Charlie Chaplin comedies, and an enterprising producer hired West, who had been doing comic pantomimes on the vaudeville stage, to make imitation-Chaplin subjects to meet the demand. Family Fay Holderness was born Fay MacMurray in Oconto, Wisconsin, the daughter of Thomas James MacMurray and Mary E.
