Contemporary R&B
Contemporary R&B (or simply R&B) is a popular music genre that combines rhythm and blues with elements of pop, soul, funk, hip hop, and electronic music. The genre features a distinctive record production style, drum machine-backed rhythms, pitch corrected vocals, and a smooth, lush style of vocal arrangement. Electronic influences are becoming an increasing trend and the use of hip hop or dance-inspired beats are typical, although the roughness and grit inherent in hip hop may be reduced and smoothed out. Contemporary R&B vocalists often use melisma, and since the mid-1980s, R&B rhythms have been combined with elements of hip hop culture and music and pop culture and pop music. Pre-history According to Geoffrey Himes speaking in 1989, the progressive soul movement of the early 1970s "expanded the musical and lyrical boundaries of &Bin ways that haven't been equaled since". This movement was led by soul singer-songwriter/producers such as Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, ...

Gramophone Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in. Starting in the 1940s polyvinyl chloride became common, hence the name vinyl. The phonograph record was the primary medium used for music reproduction throughout the 20th century. It had co-existed with the phonograph cylinder from the late 1880s and had effectively superseded it by around 1912. Records retained the largest market share even when new formats such as the compact cassette were mass-marketed. By the 1980s, digital media, in the form of the compact disc, had gained a larger market share, and the record left the mainstream in 1991. Since the 1990s, records con ...

Keith Sweat Live

Critical reception AllMusic editor Jonathan Widran rated the album three stars out of five. He felt that "the way Sweat and his band textures backing vocals makes this something of a church experience, with an urgent love message being conveyed by Pastor Keith as the choir echoes in the background ..You may not sweat from over-groovin', but the passionate heat his productions stir up may do the trick." ''Dress to Impress'' is the thirteenth studio album by American singer Keith Sweat. It was released on July 22, 2016 by KDS Entertainment. Critical reception Andy Kellman from Allmusic found that ''Dress to Impress'' features Sweat's "best round of songs in well over a decade," focusing on "romance and emotional connection. The album sounds fresh while drawing from numerous eras, just as the ''Sweat Hotel Live, Sweat Hotel'' playlist roams from decade to decade [...] With its stream-fishing quantity of songs notwithstanding — 16 cuts, well over an hour in duration — ''Dress to Impress'' fulfills its intent." Til The Morning
''Til the Morning'' is the twelfth studio album by American singer Keith Sweat. It was released by KDS Entertainment and eOne Music on November 8, 2011 in the United States. Critical reception Allmusic editor Andy Kellman wrote that "Sweat is once again assisted by so many (sometimes credited) background singers that one can drop into the album at various points, listen for a few seconds, and hear nothing but other voices. The occasionally pleasing album is mostly slow jam territory with functional and tasteful productions that are sometimes enhanced with low-key synthesizer work." Ridin' Solo (album)
''Ridin' Solo'' is the eleventh studio album by American R&B singer Keith Sweat. It was released on June 22, 2010 by Kedar Entertainment and Fontana Distribution. It debuted at number 13 on the US ''Billboard'' 200, also reaching number four on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Critical reception AllMusic editor Andy Kellman found that "due to a number of factors, ''Ridin Solo'' is the least significant volume of Sweat's discography ..Sweat can't be knocked for riding the Auto-Tune gravy train, not when his use of vocal effects can be traced back 20-plus years. Then again, ''Ridin' Solo'', the singer's tenth proper studio album, is slathered in it. Part of that is out of necessity; Sweat's voice, once a smooth whine, often hits a grainy strain, and it's also cloaked by a number of background vocalists who occasionally step in front to perform the hooks. While he is nearing his 50th birthday, Sweat sings lyrics that are less mature than the ones he recorded half his life ago ...

A Christmas Of Love
''A Christmas of Love'' is the ninth studio album by American singer Keith Sweat. It was released by Sweat Shop Records and Rhino Records on November 20, 2007. Critical reception AllMusic found that "Sweat knows something about contemporary R&B, and his smooth loverman sound, with just a touch of light hip-hop flavor, is all over ''Christmas of Love'' ..With the exception of "The Christmas Song," Sweat steers clear of traditional material, opting instead for narratives of romantic love placed in a holiday context such as "Be Your Santa Claus" and "Under the Tree." Sweat's singing sounds as good as it did in the '80s, and this disc should provide a soundtrack for lovers looking to generate a Yuletide spark." In the end, ''Rebirth'' is really just another Keith Sweat album, and it's a tribute to one of the leading soul men of the '80s and '90s that he can continue making records as smooth and as vigorous as this one 15 years down the road ..Sweat is still in great voice, and it's his personality that carries Rebirth, even when it sounds similar to his work in the past." Still In The Game
''Still in the Game'' is the sixth studio album by American singer Keith Sweat. It was released by Elektra Records on September 22, 1998, in the United States. The title of the album refers to Sweat being in the music business for over a decade. It was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on October 14, 1998. The single " Come and Get with Me" peaked at number 12 in the US. Follow-up "I'm Not Ready", released that same year, peaked at number 16. Critical reception Allmusic editor Michael Gallucci wrote that "Sweat is still capable of making decent records a decade into his career. He knows the secret of a good slow-groove album: seduction on the most intimate of levels. And on ''Still in the Game'', Sweat goes one-on-one with his audience, playing into their hearts and souls with his typically smooth-croon grandeur. It all sounds a bit familiar (as well as a bit programmed) – and the Jermaine Dupri, Erick Sermon and Too Short cameos add abs ...
