Playing It Straight
''Playing It Straight'' is an American reality television series broadcast by the Fox Broadcasting Company (Fox). The series premiered on March 12, 2004, and concluded on March 26, 2004, after the network abruptly cancelled the series after the broadcast of its third episode. Filmed in Elko, Nevada, the series followed Jackie Thomas, a 21-year-old college student, as she searched for love among a group of 14 men. This group, however, consisted of both straight and gay men. Thomas was required to determine which of the men identified as gay based on her observations from a series of individual and group dates. At the end of each week, Thomas eliminated two men from the competition who she believed identified as gay. If the final contestant was a straight man, he and Thomas split a $1,000,000 reward; If the final contestant was a gay man, he alone received the $1,000,000 reward. Gail Berman (born August 17, 1956) is an American producer and television executive. She is co-owner and founding partner of The Jackal Group, a production entity formed in partnership with Fox Networks Group. A rerun or repeat is a rebroadcast of an episode of a radio or television program. There are two types of reruns – those that occur during a hiatus, and those that occur when a program is syndicated. Variations In the United Kingdom, the word "repeat" refers only to a single episode; "rerun" or "rerunning" is the preferred term for an entire series/season. A "repeat" is a single episode of a series that is broadcast outside its original timeslot on the same channel/network. The episode is usually the "repeat" of the scheduled episode that was broadcast in the original timeslot earlier the previous week. Outing
Outing is the act of disclosing an LGBT person's sexual orientation or gender identity without that person's consent. It is often done for political reasons, either to instrumentalize homophobia in order to discredit political opponents or to combat homophobia and heterosexism by revealing that a prominent or respected individual is homosexual. Examples of outing in history include the Krupp affair, Eulenburg affair, and Röhm scandal. The ethics of outing are highly contested as it can often have a negative effect on the target's personal life or career. Some LGBT activists argue that gay individuals who oppose LGBT rights do not enjoy a right to privacy because of their perceived hypocrisy. The first two seasons of the series followed a group of single women, competing for the affection of a bachelor who was falsely billed as being a millionaire.
