Players (song)
"Players" is a song by American rapper and singer Coi Leray. It was released on November 30, 2022, through Republic Records and 1801 as the lead single from her second studio album, '' Coi'' (2023). Leray wrote the song with producer Johnny Goldstein, alongside WorldWideFresh and Feli Ferraro. It contains samples of American hip hop group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five's 1982 single, " The Message", from their debut studio album '' The Message''. In March 2023, a remix of the song using the instrumental of Busta Rhymes' 1997 song " Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See" and containing a guest verse by him was released. Background In early November 2022, Leray teased a snippet of the song on the video-sharing app TikTok and described it as a song that was dedicated to women being "players". Sylvia Robinson (née Vanderpool; May 29, 1935 – September 29, 2011) was an American singer, record producer, and record label executive. Clifton "Jiggs" Chase (born 1940) is an American jazz-funk organ player, composer, and influential record producer from New Jersey, United States. One of the earliest known recordings is his organ playing on the 1967 Buddy Terry recording ''Natural Soul'' (Prestige Records), alongside Woody Shaw. Melvin Glover (born May 15, 1961 in The Bronx), better known by his stage name Grandmaster Melle Mel (or simply Melle Mel) () is an American hip hop recording artist who was the lead vocalist and songwriter of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Edward Gernel Fletcher, known by his stage name Duke Bootee (June 6, 1951 – January 13, 2021) was an American early record producer and rapper. His best known single, " The Message", was released in 1982 on Sugar Hill Records. The hit song featured rappers Duke Bootee and Melle Mel. The record label marketed the song under the name Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
