Plainville is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 17,525 at the 2020 census. History Plainville first was inhabited by Europeans around 1650. By the 1660s, the land was incorporated as land for nearby Farmington. In the year 1869, it separated from Farmington due to the distance of the town center and the growth of Plainville downtown due to the installation of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad and the Hartford, Providence, and Fishkill Railroad. Plainville is a city in Rooks County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 1,746. It was named from its setting upon the plains. History Washington Irving Griffin settled along a freight trail in an area known as Paradise Flats in 1877. In order to establish a post office, Griffin completed a US Postal Service application that required the signature of the local Justice of the Peace. While reviewing the application, Justice of the Peace Lambert P. Darland suggested the name "Plainville". Plainville is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 9,945 at the time of the 2020 census. Plainville is part of the Boston and Providence metropolitan areas. History Originally included in a 1635 grant of land for Dedham, Massachusetts, the area was later deemed the Plantation of Wollomonuppoag and then later becoming Wrentham, Massachusetts before Plainville branched out as a separate community. Plainville is a hamlet on NY Route 370, approximately 4.5 miles west of Baldwinsville in Onondaga County, New York, United States. It is noted for the extensive Plainville Turkey Farms, which remained in the same family from 1835 until the business was sold in 2007 to Hain Celestial Group. The former Plainville turkey processing operations were relocated to Pennsylvania in 2009, and the Plainville plant was shut down in 2010. Plainville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Columbia Township, Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 120 at the 2020 census. Geography Plainville is located at in a valley on the banks of the Little Miami River, opposite Newtown and adjacent to Mariemont and Indian Hill. Plainville is part of the Greater Cincinnati area and the Mariemont City School District.
