Plack (coin)
A plack ( gd, plang) was an ancient Scottish coin of the value of four Scots pence or, by 1707, one-third of an English penny. Issues and nomenclature James III of Scotland started minting placks and two pence half-placks in Edinburgh before 1473. They were made of " billon", an alloy with a low silver content. The name of the coin comes from a Flemish word for a metal disc. James IV of Scotland, who reigned from 1488 to 1513, issued two kinds of four pence placks, both minted in billon. The first issue has "Lombardic" mediaeval-style lettering, and the second issue used Roman capitals. There were also half-placks, valued at two pence. The half-placks are now comparatively rare. Placks issued during the minority years of James V are slightly different in design from those of his father, and are sometimes called "Queen's Placks", referring to his mother Margaret Tudor. Plack is a Perl web application programming framework inspired by Rack for Ruby and WSGI for Python, and it is the project behind the PSGI specification used by other frameworks such as Catalyst and Dancer. Plack allows for testing of Perl web applications without a live web server. Plackup is a command line utility to run PSGI applications from the command line. PSGI PSGI or Perl Web Server Gateway Interface is an interface between web servers and web applications and frameworks written in the Perl programming language that allows writing portable applications that can be run as standalone servers or using CGI, FastCGI, mod_perl, et al. It is inspired by the Web Server Gateway Interface for Python, Rack for Ruby and JSGI for JavaScript. Plack (horse)
Plack (1921–1940) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a juvenile in 1923 when she won three races and finished second to Diophon in the Middle Park Stakes. In the following year she recorded her biggest victory when taking a very strong renewal of the 1000 Guineas and then finished second in the Epsom Oaks. Later that year she added wins in the Newmarket Oaks and the Jockey Club Cup. She failed to win in 1925 but was placed in the Coronation Cup, Hardwicke Stakes, Doncaster Cup and Jockey Club Cup. Despite producing few foals she had some influence as a broodmare. Background Plack was a chestnut mare bred and owned by Archibald Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery. During her racing career he was trained by Jack Jarvis at the Park Lodge at Newmarket, Suffolk. Adam Plack
Adam Plack is an Australian-born didgeridoo player, composer and producer, originally from East Brighton in Melbourne. He moved to New York City in 1991 and released four albums before moving into production and composition for meditation music in partnership with Deepak Chopra. Life and career Plack comes from a family of classical musicians. He studied classical violin, piano, guitar and voice from a young age. He also enjoyed the improvisations on his father's jazz records and eventually turned toward the Australian landscape for inspiration. Plack picked up the didgeridoo in the early 1990s and began his recording career together with Johnny "White Ant" Soames, releasing the album ''Dawn Until Dusk (Tribal Song And Didgeridoo)'' in 1992. The duo produced a second album, ''Winds of Warning'' two years later. He has also collaborated with David Gulpilil and other Aboriginal musicians. Plackart
A plackart (also spelt ) is a piece of medieval and Renaissance era armour, initially covering the lower half of the front torso. Sometimes they were worn with a metal finish, while the top part of the cuirass was covered in material (often velvet), the difference in finish making a contrast.
