Pit Beirer
Pit Beirer (born 19 October 1972) is a German former professional motocross racer and current Motorsports Director for the KTM motorcycle company. He competed in the Motocross World Championships from 1989 to 2003. Motocross racing career Born in Radolfzell, Baden-Württemberg, Beirer was one of the top competitors in the FIM 250cc World Championships riding for Honda and Kawasaki. He finished third in the 250 world championship in 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2002. He finished second to Frédéric Bolley in the 1999 250cc motocross world championship. Beirer signed with KTM in 2002, but in 2003, he crashed during the Bulgarian Grand Prix and suffered spinal injuries that left him paralyzed and ended his riding career. Frédéric Bolley (born 17 February 1974 in Marseille) is a French former professional motocross racer. He competed in the Motocross World Championships from 1997 to 2002. Bolley is notable for being a two-time 250cc motocross world champion. Bolley won consecutive F.I.M. 250cc motocross world championships in 1999 and 2000 riding for the Honda factory racing team. In 2002, Bolley announced his retirement from motocross to follow Jean-Michel Bayle by switching to road racing. Grand Prix motorcycle racing is the premier class of motorcycle road racing events held on road circuits sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). Independent motorcycle racing events have been held since the start of the twentieth century and large national events were often given the title Grand Prix. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing is the factory team of KTM active in the MotoGP World Championship supported by sponsor, drinks manufacturer Red Bull. Radolfzell am Bodensee is a town in Germany at the western end of Lake Constance approximately 18 km northwest of Konstanz. It is the third largest town, after Constance and Singen, in the district of Konstanz, in Baden-Württemberg. FIM Motocross World Championship is the premier championship of motocross racing, organized by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), divided into two distinct classes: MXGP and MX2. Race duration is 30 minutes plus two laps per race. The series runs 18 events with two races per class at each round.
