Caria
Caria (; from Greek: Καρία, ''Karia''; tr, Karya) was a region of western Anatolia extending along the coast from mid-Ionia (Mycale) south to Lycia and east to Phrygia. The Ionians, Ionian and Dorians, Dorian Greeks colonized the west of it and joined the Carian population in forming Greek-dominated states there. Carians were described by Herodotus as being of Minoan civilization, Minoan descent,''The Histories'', Book I Section 171. while he reports that the Carians themselves maintained that they were Anatolian mainlanders intensely engaged in seafaring and were akin to the Mysians and the Lydians. Calynda
Calynda (also Calinda, Calydna, or Karynda; grc, Κάλυνδα) was a city in ancient Caria. History It was probably situated at the boundary of Lycia and Caria, for it is placed in the former territory by Ptolemy (xxxi, 16), in the latter by Stephanus Byzantius. Stephanus gives also another form of the name, Karynda. Calynda must be carefully distinguished from Kalydna, Kalydnos, Karyanda and Kadyanda. Strabo places it 60 stadia from the sea, west of the Gulf of Glaucus, and east of Caunus. It appears, from a passage in Herodotus, that the territory of Caunus bordered on that of Calynda. Its king, Damasithymos, was an ally of Queen Artemisia I of Caria, and was at the Battle of Artemisium and the Battle of Salamis with a ship on the side of Xerxes. Kaunos
Kaunos (Carian: ''Kbid'';. Translator Chris Markham. Lycian: ''Khbide''; Ancient Greek: ; la, Caunus) was a city of ancient Caria and in Anatolia, a few kilometres west of the modern town of Dalyan, Muğla Province, Turkey. The Calbys river (now known as the Dalyan river) was the border between Caria and Lycia. Initially Kaunos was a separate state; then it became a part of Caria and later still of Lycia. Kaunos was an important sea port, the history of which is supposed to date back to the 10th century BC. Sarigerme
Sarıgerme is a beach near Osmaniye Village in Ortaca district, Muğla Province, south-west Turkey. It is a holiday destination with a beach and shops. It also has a post office (pictured) as well as a few places to drink and eat. There are number of villages around Sarıgerme: Gökbel, Mergenli, Karadonlar, . Sarıgerme is approximately 12 km from the airport town of Dalaman with good road access after being resurfaced several years ago. This beach has pristine sands and it is very popular with Turkish and foreign tourists alike. The beach is long and sandy and there is usually quite a strong prevailing NW wind. Ortaca District
Ortaca () is a town and district of Muğla Province in the Aegean region of Turkey. Formerly a township depending Köyceğiz administratively, it was made into a separate district in 1987. Apart from Ortaca district center, there is one depending township with own municipality, namely Dalyan. Ortaca is a typical Turkish working-class town with an economy based on agriculture. It lies midway between Dalaman and Köyceğiz. Its name literally means "the town in the middle", possibly a reference to its location in the middle of the surrounding plain and is indeed a regional hub. The town pulls benefits from this fertile plain and the economy largely depends on tomatoes, citrus fruits, cotton and pomegranates. The market day is on Fridays and the whole town becomes a hive of activity worthy of a visit.
