Pioneer Junior High School
Pioneer Junior High School is a junior high school in Upland, California. It serves seventh and eighth graders in the northern part of Upland. Distinguished School Pioneer is a California Distinguished School, winning the award in the spring of 2007. On March 20, 2008, the school received the Governor's Challenge Front Runner award. For the 2007–08 school year, both seventh and eighth grade Academic Pentathlon teams received first place. For the 2008–2009 school year, Pioneer's Eighth Grade Academic Pentathlon team took first place overall, first place in each category, and the top participant in each division. For the 2007–2008 year, Pioneer took first, second, and third place in the National PTA Reflections Program for their students' achievements. Upland is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States on the border with neighboring Los Angeles County. The municipality is located at an elevation of 1,242 feet (379 m). Upland Unified School District
Upland Unified School District is a school district located in San Bernardino County, California that serves the community of Upland, California. It has a total population of approximately 63,800 and covers a total area of 24 square miles. History Just prior to the City of Upland's growth spurt in the 1960s, Upland High School was established in 1955. By the 1980s this population growth had the side-effect of overcrowding, which in turn caused students to transfer to other high schools in the Chaffey Joint Union High School District. The affected families then began a movement towards unifying the existing elementary and middle schools into a separate district. California Distinguished School
California Distinguished School is an award given by the California State Board of Education to public schools within the state that best represent exemplary and quality educational programs. Approximately 5-10% of California schools are awarded this honor each year following a selection process. It is one of many programs in the California School Recognition Program (CSRP) and is funded by CSRP sponsors.
