Pink Rose
Pink Rose () is the first political LGBT association in Finland. It was formed during the 2004 Helsinki Pride by Jani Ryhänen, who is currently serving as president. The day the association formed, the second vice president of the Social Democratic Party of Finland and Minister of Labour, Tarja Filatov joined. In use since the 1990s, the initialism, as well as some of its common variants, functions as an umbrella term for sexuality and gender identity. Helsinki Pride
Helsinki Pride is an LGBT pride event in Helsinki, Finland. The event takes place during the last week of June. The event lasts all week and is usually held the week after midsummer. On Monday, the program opens, and during the week there are usually sporting events, gathering of young people in the evening, and a rainbow fair. In addition, a number celebrate the role of women. The week culminates in Saturday's Pride parade, which runs through the center of Helsinki. The procession ends in the park where celebrations continue. In the park there is generally a celebratory program of music and speeches. Saturday night also sees entertainment in the city's gay nightclubs. In 2018 attendance figures nearly tripled from 2017 numbers to record-breaking 100,000 people making it one of the biggest public events ever in Finland. Tarja Filatov
Tarja Filatov (born 9 August 1963 in Hämeenlinna) is a Finnish member of Parliament representing the Häme constituency since 1995, and a former government minister. She belongs to the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP), and since February 2010 until April 2011 has been one of the two Deputy Speakers of the Parliament. Previously she was the vice chairman of the SDP parliamentary group (1999 - 2002) and the chairman of the parliamentary group (March 2007 - February 2010). Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights in Finland are among the most advanced in Europe. According to an annual ILGA report, Finnish LGBT legislation is among the most extensive and developed legislations in Europe. Compared to fellow Nordic countries, it ranks near the top, outranked only by neighbouring Norway. Both male and female same-sex sexual activity have been legal in Finland since 1971 with "promotion" thereof decriminalized and the age of consent equalized in 1999, and homosexuality declassified as an illness in 1981.
