Piney is a census-designated place (CDP) in Adair County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 115 at the 2010 census. Piney was the "head town" of the first wave of relocated Cherokee people (the "Old Settlers") who relocated there from their ancestral homelands in the southeastern United States. Piney Township is a township in Clarion County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 398 at the 2020 census, a decrease from the figure of 453 tabulated in 2010. Geography Piney Township is located just southwest of the center of Clarion County and is bordered to the north by the Clarion River and to the southwest by the borough of Sligo. Piney Creek flows across the northern corner of the township, into the Clarion River at the settlement of Piney. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and , or 1.16%, is water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 516 people, 142 households, and 112 families residing in the township. The population density was 29.0 people per square mile (11.2/km2). Piney Woods
The Piney Woods is a temperate coniferous forest terrestrial ecoregion in the Southern United States covering of East Texas, southern Arkansas, western Louisiana, and southeastern Oklahoma. These coniferous forests are dominated by several species of pine as well as hardwoods including hickory and oak. Historically the most dense part of this forest region was the Big Thicket though the lumber industry dramatically reduced the forest concentration in this area and throughout the Piney Woods during the 19th and 20th centuries. The World Wide Fund for Nature considers the Piney Woods to be one of the critically endangered ecoregions of the United States. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines most of this ecoregion as the South Central Plains. The Rural Municipality of Piney is a rural municipality in southeastern Manitoba, Canada, along the border with Minnesota in the United States. Geography According to Statistics Canada, the municipality has a land area of 2,433.77 km2. It is bordered by the rural municipalities of Stuartburn, La Broquerie, and Reynolds, as well as the Buffalo Point 36 Indian reserve and an unorganized part of the province ( Division No. 1, Unorganized, Manitoba). The holders were also sometimes called duc de Luxembourg, after the House of Luxembourg, from whom they were descended.
