Pineville () is a home rule-class city in Bell County, Kentucky, United States. It is the seat of its county. The population was 1,732 as of the 2010 census. It is located on a small strip of land between the Cumberland River and Pine Mountain. History Pineville is one of the oldest settlements in Kentucky, located at the crossing of the Cumberland River by the Wilderness Road. It was established as Cumberland Ford in 1781 and formed part of Governor Isaac Shelby's land tracts. When Bell County was formed in 1867, Cumberland Ford was formally laid off; local landowner J.J. Pineville is a city in Rapides Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is located across the Red River from the larger Alexandria. Pineville is hence part of the Alexandria Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 14,555 at the 2010 census. Pineville is a city in and the county seat of McDonald County, Missouri, United States. The population was 791 at the 2010 census. History Pineville was originally named Maryville, and under the latter name was laid out in 1847. The name was changed to Pineville in 1849 since another community already had the name of Maryville. Some say that the community of Pineville, Missouri was named for a grove of pine trees at the original town site, while others believe the name is a transfer from Pineville, Kentucky. On August 17, 1897, Pineville was the site of a bank robbery which was one of the few at that time that involved a woman as an active participant in the actual robbery. Pineville (; locally ) is a suburban town in the southernmost portion of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, United States, situated in the Waxhaws district between Charlotte and Fort Mill. History Pineville became known as a mule trading center during the time of the Charlotte 'gold rush'. At that time 'Pineville' was called 'Morrow's Turnout'. Located at the intersection of two major Native American trading routes, it had vast meadows in which the animals of trade and transportation could be 'turned-out' to pasture. Pineville was incorporated as a town in 1873. The origins of the name Pineville can be traced back to 1852, when the Charlotte & Columbia Railroad came through the Pineville area. Pineville is a town in and the county seat of Wyoming County, West Virginia, United States, situated along the Guyandotte River. The population was 648 at the 2020 census. History Pineville was settled by William Short in 1853. In 1863, Hiram Clay first settled near the site of present Pineville.
