Pine Ridge is an unincorporated community in Hale Township, Caddo County, Oklahoma, United States. It is located south of Fort Cobb at the junction of County Road 1380 and County Street 2550. History According to locals, the community got its name from the community of Pine Ridge, Arkansas, that was the setting of the radio show ''Lum and Abner'' which aired from 1934 to 1952. Legend says that the owner of the grocery store named it "Pine Ridge" after the radio show and over time the name was adopted as the name of the whole community. During the community's heyday in the 1940s there was a hub of activity at the main junction of the Ozark Trail and the Fort Cobb road, with a grocery store and two churches, Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and Pine Ridge Church of Christ (founded on May 1, 1949 but later merged into the Fort Cobb Church of Christ. Fort Cobb, Oklahoma
Fort Cobb is a town in Caddo County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 634 at the 2010 census. History Fort Cobb was established as a U.S. Army frontier post in Indian Territory on October 1, 1859, east of the present location of the town. The fort was named after Secretary of the Treasury Howell Cobb, a friend of the founding officer, Major William Emory. The post was later occupied by both Southern and Northern forces during the Civil War, the Union taking control of the fort as part of the 1862 Tonkawa massacre. Later, Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer's command was encamped at Fort Cobb from December 18, 1868, to January 6, 1869. Shortly after that, on March 12, 1869, the fort was abandoned in favor of a location to the south near the Wichita Mountains, and renamed Fort Sill.''Fort Cobb''

Apache, Oklahoma
Apache is a town in Caddo County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,444 at the 2010 census. History Before opening the Kiowa, Comanche, and Apache Reservation on August 1, 1901, for unrestricted settlement by non-Indians, Land Lottery Director William A. Richards had recommended setting aside the land now occupied by Apache as a townsite. He had expected the community would be named "Richards" in his honor. Instead, officials of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway (Rock Island) named the community Apache. A land run for lots in Apache was held on August 6, 1901. According to the ''Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture,'' five lumberyards and six saloons opened for business within hours after the run. A tent served as a market for groceries.

Broxton is an unincorporated community in Caddo County, Oklahoma, United States. It was originally intended to form an actual town with 50 town lots. Broxton had an independent school district until the 1990s, but it was consolidated with the Fort Cobb school district, becoming Fort Cobb-Broxton Public Schools The community of Pine Ridge was also served by the Broxton school district. Woods and Waters Winery and Vineyard was the first commercial winery in Caddo County, Oklahoma. It was located on the old Ozark Trail southwest of Anadarko and east of the community of Pine Ridge. The winery was established in 1998 as part of a ranch. There were planted in different varieties of ''vinifera'' grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Zinfandel, Merlot, Chardonnay, Riseling, Gewürztraminer, and Muscat Blanc. The winery also produced several blends including "Rose of Caddo" (a blended red sweet dessert wine) as well as their own port wine. Ozark Trail (auto Trail)
The Ozark Trail was a network of locally maintained roads and highways organized by the Ozark Trails Association that predated the United States federal highway system. The roads ran from St. Louis, Missouri, to El Paso, Texas, and Santa Fe, New Mexico, over a series of routes. These roads were maintained by both private citizens and local communities. In one case, however, the U.S. government was directly involved; it built the Newcastle Bridge in 1923 over the South Canadian River between Newcastle, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma City, as the first federal highway project built in Oklahoma. ''Lum and Abner'' was an American network radio comedy program created by Chester Lauck and Norris Goff that was aired from 1931 to 1954. Modeled on life in the small town of Waters, Arkansas, near where Lauck and Goff grew up, the show proved immensely popular. In 1936, Waters changed its name to "Pine Ridge" after the show's fictional town. Synopsis The series was created by co-stars Chester Lauck (who played Columbus "Lum" Edwards) and Norris Goff (Abner Peabody). The original name was Waters, but the name was changed in 1936 to Pine Ridge through a vote of the city's town council.
