Pilsen Fest
Pilsen Fest is an annual weekend festival in Pilsen, Chicago showcasing "musicians, chefs, mixologists, poets, muralists, painters, writers, documentarians, and photographers." It is also known as Pilsen Arts and Music Festival, and had an estimated 50,000 attendees in 2017. Musicians participating in 2017 included Nina Sky, Rey Pila, Elastic Bond, iLe, Nina Diaz, Cordoba, Purple Tokyo, DECIMA, Lolaa, and Black Bear Rodeo. Lower West Side is a community area on the West Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. It is three miles southwest of the Chicago Loop and its main neighborhood is Pilsen (). The Heart of Chicago is a neighborhood in the southwest corner of the Lower West Side. History In the late 19th century, Pilsen was inhabited by German, Polish, Italian, and Czech immigrants. Czech immigrants were the most prominent and named the district after Plzeň, the fourth largest city in what is now the Czech Republic. They replaced the Germans and Irish who had settled there before them, in the mid-nineteenth century. These German and Irish residents lived in poor conditions throughout the 1850s and ‘60s. Nina Sky is an American musical duo consisting of identical twins Nicole and Natalie Albino. Ruido Fest is an annual multi-day Latin American music festival in Chicago, Illinois held every July in Addams/Medill Park in Chicago's Near West Side neighborhood. Ruido Fest was first held July 10–12, 2015. Riot Fest is an annual three-day punk rock music festival based in Chicago, Illinois, at Douglass Park. It is known for booking reunions, guest performances, and full album performances. Riot Fest remains one of the largest independently owned music festivals in the United States. Spring Awakening (festival)
Spring Awakening Music Festival (SAMF) is an annual Electronic dance music, electronic dance music (EDM) festival held in Chicago. The festival started at a theater in 2008, moved to Soldier Field in 2012–2015, and to Addams/Medill Park in 2016–2018. In 2019, the festival moved to the Sears Centre Arena, Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, the former site of the Poplar Creek Music Theater. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was not held in 2020, and the 2021 event was held in October at Addams/Medill Park.
