''Pilgrim Hill'' is a 2013 Irish rural drama film. Writer and director Gerard Barrett won the Rising Star Award at the 10th Irish Film & Television Awards The 10th Irish Film & Television Awards took place on Saturday 9 February 2013 at the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) honouring Irish film and television released in 2012. It was hosted by Irish actor Simon Delaney and attracted an audience of 1.2 .... The film depicts the solitary life of an Irish dairy farmer, living with only his invalided father in a remote Irish location. The film catalogues his daily farming routine as well as his rather limited encounters with others. Gerard Barrett (filmmaker)
Gerard Barrett is an Irish filmmaker. He came to prominence when he won the Rising Star Award at the 10th Irish Film & Television Awards for his debut, '' Pilgrim Hill''. His follow-up '' Glassland'' starred Jack Reynor as a young man who tries to help his mother (Toni Collette). In 2015, Barrett filmed '' Brain on Fire'' based on the book of the same name, starring Chloë Grace Moretz in New York City and Canada. His television mini-series ''Smalltown'' was screened in Ireland in September 2016. In 2017, his movie, ''Limbo'' premiered at the 29th Galway Film Fleadh, and his hour-long drama, ''Honey'', was sold to FX. Barrett attended St Michael's College, Listowel. A graduate of Tralee IT, where he studied Film, TV and Media. He was married on 2 January 2016. Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland, formerly known as Bord Scannán na hÉireann / the Irish Film Board, is the Republic of Ireland's state development agency for the Irish film, television and animation industry. 10th Irish Film & Television Awards
The 10th Irish Film & Television Awards took place on Saturday 9 February 2013 at the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) honouring Irish film and television released in 2012. It was hosted by Irish actor Simon Delaney and attracted an audience of 1.24 million viewers. The Show was broadcast on RTÉ One Television on the night. Big winners on the night included RTÉ crime-drama Love/Hate which took home six awards, including awards for Best Drama, Best Director David Caffrey and Writer TV Stuart Carolan. Actors Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Charlie Murphy and Susan Loughnane won awards for Actor Lead TV Drama, Actress Lead TV and Actress Support TV Drama respectively.
