The National Professional Basketball League ( or LNBP) is the top professional basketball league in Mexico. The league was founded in 2000 with 10 teams. Despite its short history, the LNBP has established itself as the one of the most important basketball leagues in Latin America. Famous basketball players who have played in the league include Jamario Moon, Dennis Rodman, Sun Mingming, Horacio Llamas and many others. History Foundation In January 2000, some teams of CIMEBA (Circuito Mexicano de Básquetbol), the national basketball league in Mexico at the time, exited the league, citing CIMEBA's financial difficulties, and decided to form a new league. On March 11, 2000 the league was founded in the city of Durango with 11 teams participating. Libertadores de Querétaro (English: ''Querétaro Liberators'') is a professional Mexican basketball team, based in Querétaro City, Querétaro. The Libertadores are part of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional, the top professional basketball league in Mexico. The team plays their home games at the Auditorio General Arteaga, with a capacity of 4,138 spectators. Libertadores was established in 2009 and joined Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional for the 2009–10 season, but it folded after the end of the season. The team came back for the 2017–18 season. History Libertadores de Querétaro was founded in 2009 and they joined the top-level of Mexican basketball, the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional, for the 2009–10 season. Astros de Jalisco (English: ''Jalisco Astros'') is a professional Mexican basketball team, based in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The Astros are part the CIBACOPA and the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional, the top professional basketball league in Mexico. The team plays its home games at the Arena Astros, with a capacity of 4,000 spectators. Correcaminos UAT Victoria
The Correcaminos UAT Victoria (English: ''UAT Victoria Roadrunners'') is a Mexican professional basketball team. It has been a member of the LNBP since the 2000 season. History Correcaminos UAT Victoria was founded in 1995 as a founding member of the Conferencia de Básquetbol Profesional (CBP). They joined Circuito Mexicano de Básquetbol (CIMEBA) in 1997, and then the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional in 2000. It was the champion in 2002, and reached the league finals twice. Correcaminos is owned by the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas. In 2017, it was profiled in an ESPN article, during which season it finished last in the league.
