Pike Township is one of the fourteen townships of Madison County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 531 people in the township. Geography Located in the northwestern corner of the county, it borders the following townships: * Union Township, Union County - north * Darby Township, Union County - northeast * Darby Township - east * Monroe Township - south * Somerford Township - southwest * Goshen Township, Champaign County - west No municipalities are located in Pike Township, although the unincorporated community of Rosedale lies in the township's center. Rosedale is an unincorporated community in central Pike Township, Madison County, Ohio, United States, and roughly thirty miles (48 kilometers) west of the city of Columbus. The ZIP code is 43029 and mail is currently delivered by the Irwin post office. History The Rosedale Post Office was established on June 3, 1830, with Captain Andrews as the first postmaster.Bryan, Chester E., History of Madison County, Ohio', B.F. Bowen & Company, Inc., Indianapolis, Indiana, 1915, Pg. 182. In 1832, he purchased of land, named the place "Rosedale Farms" after the post office, and opened a store at the intersection of Rosedale Road and Rosedale-Milford Center Road.
