Pietro Antonio Magatti
Pietro Antonio Magatti (20 June 1691 – 26 September 1767) was an Italian painter, active in Lombardy in a late-Baroque (''barocchetto'') style. Born in Varese, known for paintings and frescoes in his hometown, Milan, Pavia, Como, as well as in the Castello di Masnago. Giovanni Gioseffo dal Sole (10 December 1654 – 22 July 1719) was an Italian painter and engraver from Bologna, active in the late-Baroque period. Upon the death of Carlo Cignani, Gioseffo dal Sole became among the most prominent painters in Bologna, described as the ''Guido Moderno''. Biography His father, Giovanni Antonio Maria, also called ''Mochino de` Paesi'' due to his ambidextrous dexterity, was a landscape painter who trained with Francesco Albani. Giovanni Gioseffo first apprenticed with Domenico Maria Canuti, and then in 1672; he entered the Roman studio of Lorenzo Pasinelli. He painted frescoes in the cupola of ''Santa Maria dei Poveri'' in Bologna, and an altarpiece of the ''Trinity'' (1700) for the ''Chiesa del Suffragio'' in Imola. Castello Di Masnago
The Castello di Masnago is a castle, now a civic art museum, located atop a hill on Via Cola di Rienzo number 42 in Mantegazza Park in the quartiere of Masnago of the town of Varese, region of Lombardy, Italy. The oldest part of the castle is an 11th-century crenellated tower, much rebuilt over the centuries. On the ground floor, there is a frescoed room, the Sala degli Svaghi, and in the first floor two exhibition rooms – Sala dei Vizi and delle Virtù. Some of the latter frescoes pertain to the 15th-century school of Bonifacio Bembo.
