Pieter Francis Peters
Pieter Francis Peters, originally Pieter Franciscus Peters Jr. (7 June 1818, Nijmegen - 23 February 1903, Stuttgart) was a Dutch-born German landscape painter, graphic artist and art dealer. Biography His father was a well-known glass painter who gave him his only known art lessons. In 1841, he moved to Germany and, a year later, married Heinrike Gertrude Mali of Böblingen (died 1884), who came from a prominent family of Dutch-born painters. At first, they lived in Mannheim, but later moved to Stuttgart to join her brothers, Christian, and Hubertus (1818–1839) after the death of their mother. Once there, King William I allowed him to use a studio in the Old Castle and he became a travelling companion to Queen Olga. He had three daughters, two of whom (Anna and Pietronella) also became painters. They received their first art lessons from him and their uncles. Esslingen (district)
Esslingen is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the centre of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise) Rems-Murr, Göppingen, Reutlingen, Böblingen and the district-free city Stuttgart. Until 15 October 1964 the district's name was written officially as Landkreis Eßlingen. History The district dates back to the Oberamt Esslingen, which was created when the previously free imperial city of Esslingen am Neckar became part of Württemberg in 1803. It was changed several times in the course of history. Since 1810 it belonged to the ''Landvogtei Rothenberg'' and from 1818 until it was dissolved in 1924 to the ''Neckarkreis''. An artist is a person engaged in an activity related to creating art, practicing the arts, or demonstrating an art. Lake Thun
Lake Thun (german: Thunersee) is an Alpine lake in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland named after the city of Thun, on its northern shore. At in surface area, it is the largest Swiss lake entirely within a single canton. The lake was created after the last glacial period. After the 10th century, it split from Lake Brienz, before which the two lakes were combined, as ''Wendelsee'' ("Lake Wendel"). The culminating point of the lake's drainage basin is the Finsteraarhorn at above sea level. Lake Thun's approximate catchment area frequently causes local flooding after heavy rainfalls. This occurs because the river Aare (german: Aare), which drains Lake Thun, has only limited capacity to handle the excess runoff. Bebenhausen
Bebenhausen is a village (pop. 347) in the Tübingen district, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Since 1974 it is a district of the city of Tübingen, its least populous one. It is located 3 km north of Tübingen proper (about 5 km northeast of the city centre), in the southeastern part of the protected landscape of the Schönbuch, a dense forest. Bebenhausen is famous for its monastery, Bebenhausen Abbey, founded in 1183 by Count Palatine Rudolph of Tübingen. Schwaigern () is a town in the district of Heilbronn, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 12 km west of Heilbronn.
