Pierre Shuai Yang ( zh, s=杨帅, t=楊帥, p=Yáng Shuài; born on 27 January 1983) is a Chinese-Australian lawyer and politician. He was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council at the 2017 Western Australian state election, 2017 state election, as a Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch), Labor member in Electoral region of South Metropolitan, South Metropolitan Region. His term began on 22 May 2017. Yang moved to Australia when he was 15-years-old (1998), as an overseas student. Simone Frances McGurk (born 5 December 1963) is an Australian politician. She is the member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly for the seat of Fremantle, and Minister for Community Services, Children's Interests and Women's Interests. 2017 Western Australian State Election
The 2017 Western Australian state election was held on Saturday 11 March 2017 to elect members to the Parliament of Western Australia, including all 59 seats in the Legislative Assembly and all 36 seats in the Legislative Council. The eight-and-a-half-year two-term incumbent Liberal– WA National government, led by Premier Colin Barnett, was defeated in a landslide by the Labor opposition, led by Opposition Leader Mark McGowan.
